Synovial sarcoma is a very rare, highly malignant mesenchymal tumor and predominantly affects adolescents and young adults. This neoplasm tends to develop near the large joints in the extremities. The incidence of this type of neoplasm involving the prostate gland is extremely rare. Prostate sarcoma can often be misdiagnosed as a consequence of its infrequent occurrence. This is a case presentation of a 37-year-old man who had complained of a weak urinary stream for three weeks. Digital rectal examination showed an enlarged, hard, and nodular prostate. On imaging, there was a huge heterogeneou

Primary synovial sarcoma of the prostate is exceptionally rare. Its nonspecific presentation and often normal or low prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels may delay diagnosis. A 49-year-old man presented with lower urinary tract symptoms and gross hematuria. Digital rectal examination revealed a markedly enlarged, firm, irregular prostate. The serum PSA level was 0.34 ng/mL. Pelvic magnetic resonance imaging showed a 9.4 × 7.4 × 6.5 cm heterogeneous prostatic mass with loss of the rectoprostatic fat plane, without definitive evidence of metastatic disease on staging. Transrectal ultrasound-gu

RATIONALE: Synovial sarcoma, a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma, typically manifests in the synovium of major joints. The incidence of this disease in the intermuscular region of the abdominal wall, as observed in this particular case, is an even rarer occurrence. Relying solely on conventional imaging modalities often proves insufficient for establishing a definitive diagnosis.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 67-year-old female inadvertently palpated a mass in the abdomen two years ago. The mass was firm in texture and had limited mobility. The patient expressed concerns regarding the possibility of it

Synovial sarcoma in the head and neck region is relatively uncommon, and primary synovial sarcoma of the thyroid gland is extremely rare with only 19 reported cases in the English literature. The rarity of disease leads to delayed and frequent misdiagnosis in the radiological and fine needle aspiration cytology examination. A prompt diagnosis is required to avoid emergency tracheostomy. An optimal immunohistochemistry panel with molecular evaluation is the cornerstone of diagnosis. We report a case of primary SS thyroid in a young male with detailed review of the literature.

BACKGROUND: Synovial sarcoma, a highly aggressive soft tissue sarcoma, is mostly seen among young people and tends to occur in the extremities. It most commonly metastasizes to the lungs, and symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing are common after metastasis. However, multiple spontaneous pneumothorax is relatively rare. This article aims to further enhance the understanding of synovial sarcoma by introducing a case of pulmonary metastasis after surgery for synovial sarcoma originating from the sole of the foot and reviewing relevant literature.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a high-grade malignancy, accounting for 2.5-3.5 % of all primary H&N sarcomas and 0.1 % of all H&N cancers.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 26-year-old woman presents with dyspnea and dysphonia. Flexible nasofibrolaryngoscopy and CT were performed with evidence of a laryngeal tumor. Total laryngectomy was performed due to a histopathological report of laryngeal synovial sarcoma.
CLINICAL DISCUSSION: Primary SS of the H&N is rare and accounts for <5 % of all synovial sarcomas and laryngeal-origin SS represents a rare subset within H&N sarcomas. There

Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a malignant soft tissue tumor that usually arises in the para-articular regions of the extremities. Only nine cases of SS in the mandible have been reported to date. The present study described a case of SS arising from the left mandible. A 54-year-old woman was referred to Kyushu University Hospital (Fukuoka, Japan) with a complaint of numbness in the left mental nerve area. Computed tomography revealed replacement of the left mandibular bone marrow with soft tissue and destruction of the mandibular canal. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an isointense mass on T1-w

Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a rare malignant soft tissue sarcoma that originates from primitive mesenchymal cells with epithelial differentiation potential. It is most commonly found in the limbs and trunk. In the urinary system, it is mostly found in the kidneys. However, synovial sarcomas originating from the external urethra are extremely rare. Only one case of synovial sarcoma arising from the vulvar urethral orifice has been reported previously, and we report a second case of synovial sarcoma of the urethral orifice. In addition, a total of 16 vulvar synovial sarcomas were identified and the

A case of primary synovial sarcoma of the jejunum was collected and analyzed retrospectively. A 19-year-old man who presented to hospital with abdominal pain. The CT scan showed a large mixed abdominal mass with bleeding. Laparotomy revealed that the tumor originated from the jejunum, accompanied by rupture and hemorrhage. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of spindle cells. The tumor cells demonstrated diffuse expression of vimentin, transducin-like enhancer (TLE)-1, B-cell lymphoma protein (Bcl)-2, CD99 and focal expression of epithelial membrane antigen (EMA). The presence of specific

BACKGROUND: Synovial sarcomas are a rare type of high-grade sarcomas with unknown cell origin. They arise predominantly in the soft tissues but rarely in the stomach. We recently encountered a rare case of minute gastric synovial sarcoma.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 61-year-old Japanese woman was pointed out edematous erosion at the body of the stomach. Biopsy specimen showed dense proliferation of spindle-shaped tumor cells mixed with smooth muscle fibers of the muscularis mucosae. Although the definite histological diagnosis was undetermined, the patient underwent laparoscopic wedge resection of t

We are reporting a case of a 47-year-old male with primary synovial sarcoma of the right parotid gland with tumor thrombus extension in the right internal jugular vein and right atrium. The rarity of this occurrence as documented in the review of the literature provides for uncertainty about proper management. Our case represents a rare occurrence with the unique radiological finding that has implications for management.

Chest radiography showed a right posterior mass on the mediastinum of an 84-year-old woman. The mass had been growing gradually for four years. Surgical excision was performed, and a pathological examination found the mass to be consistent with primary synovial sarcoma (SS) of the mediastinum. To our knowledge, this is a rare case in which follow-up imaging was able to be performed over a period of four years. This disease is aggressive, and its early diagnosis is key to achieving a cure. It is important to consider primary SS in the differential diagnosis of a primary intra-thoracic tumor, ev

BACKGROUND: Synovial sarcoma is a rare soft tissue sarcoma which most commonly affects the extremities of young adults. Axilla involvement by this sarcoma is very rare especially with involvement of the brachial plexus. This combination adds to the challenge in approaching such tumors which might significantly affect survival and function.
CASE PRESENTATION: Herein, we present a 48-year-old female patient who presented with an isolated painless lump in her right axilla. Initially, her workup, looking for possible breast cancer, included fine-needle aspiration (FNA) which did not provide the d

Synovial sarcoma of the nasal cavity and sinus are rare, comprise less than 0.1% of all soft tissue malignancies. Synovial sarcoma is a malignant mesenchymal tumor with variable epithelial differentiation, which is defined by the presence of a specific chromosomal translocation that generates SS18-SSX fusion oncogenes. The treatment include surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy. As the delicate anatomy of the nasal cavity and sinus limits the ability to obtain wide surgical margins. This maybe the reason why there is a higher local recurrence rate and worse disease-specific survival in head and nec

Dura-based intracranial neoplasms include a wide range of primary and metastatic tumors, varying in their clinical, radiologic, morphologic, and immunophenotypic characteristics. At this anatomic location, sarcomas are rare, however, they exhibit close morphologic resemblances to meningioma. Herein we describe the third case of primary synovial sarcoma of the parafalcine region in a50-years-old female, who presented with left-sided hemiplegia. The radiologic survey revealed a 5.5cm×5.8cm contrast enhancing dura-based mass at the right parafalcine region with meningeal enhancement and edema in

Synovial sarcoma is a high-grade soft tissue sarcoma that rarely arises in the head and neck region. It affects the parapharyngeal space and the hypopharynx most commonly and it has different presentations based on the affected site. In extremely rare occasions, it involves the hard palate such as in our case where a 24-year-old female patient presented with a mass lesion involving the left hard palate, which was identified clinically and by imaging studies. The histopathological assessment confirmed that it was a monophasic synovial sarcoma which was also confirmed with further molecular stud

Synovial sarcomas (SS) of the head and neck region are extremely rare and arise in only 5% of cases. We present a case of secondary SS of the thyroid originally diagnosed as medullary carcinoma on fine needle aspiration (FNA). A 41-year-old man presented with several weeks of dysphonia and a left thyroid mass. FNA of the thyroid nodule showed a cellular smear composed of loosely cohesive oval to spindle-shaped cells with irregular nuclear borders, finely granular chromatin, and inconspicuous nucleoli. The patient was diagnosed with medullary carcinoma and underwent a total thyroidectomy. Intro
