A pilot-study using the Worker Role Interview (WRI) was conducted to gather information from clients attending a work- rehabilitation program in an Icelandic psychiatric center. The work rehabilitation program traditionally used a performance-capacity-oriented assessment (PCA) to evaluate work readiness. 3 case histories of patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome and acute organic psychoses are reported. Their psychoses can be classified as benefaction or blissfulness psychoses. A handfull of previous reports classify similar acute organic psychoses as symptomatic manias. The respective descriptions make obvious that these psychoses are homogenous among each other and that their contents represent a vivid reflection over a life situation which had been thoroughly changed by the AIDS illness.

Short case histories of twin sisters with progressive juvenile kyphoscoliosis who were incorrectly brought up and finally scorned as "witches" by their parents are used as examples to explain that Minutio existinationis (M.e.) can be regarded as a severe psychological trauma. The article seeks an approach for therapy. Rehabilitation of the two patients concerned proved, regrettably, unsuccessful. This again confirms that the life of sickly children after childhood is formed by the behaviour of the parents.
