Depigmented haloes sometimes appear around melanocytic tumors or non-melanocytic tumors, but coexistence of warts and depigmented haloes is extremely rare. We report here an unusual case of warts accompanied by depigmented haloes and subsequently-triggered generalized vitiligo. The national cost of managing genital warts (GWs) in the UK has not been fully estimated, yet is required to inform decisions on vaccination against human papillomavirus. This study estimated the 2010 UK costs based on secondary genitourinary (GU) medicine clinic data from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and primary care data from the Health Improvement Network database. BACKGROUND: Cidofovir is an antiviral agent which inhibits the DNA polymerase of different viruses. Its use has been described for papillomavirus infections.
METHODS: Descriptive retrospective study, including patients with difficult to treat anogenital warts who were treated with cidofovir cream.
RESULTS: Nine immunocompetent patients were treated, where 6 of them had a complete response and 3 of them a partial response.
CONCLUSION: Cidofovir cream could be a useful therapeutic alternative, although further studies are required to establish the best dosage and its cost-effectiveness.

Through clinical practice, it is often perceived that patients with diabetes are more likely to suffer from severe and recalcitrant warts. This study was set up to investigate if genital warts were more common in patients with diabetes and to determine if patients with diabetes and genital warts required more treatment than those without diabetes. 7 patients with a diagnosis of common and/or plantar warts present for at least 1 year and resistant to previous vigorous therapy were studied.
