A roadmap for surgeon leaders in improving gender equity: educational strategies, implementation, and evaluative methods.

BACKGROUND: Gender diversity is lacking in the orthopedic workforce, and patient outcomes are known to be negatively affected when gender inequity exists. Following an unpublished needs assessment, we sought to evaluate participants' proposed solutions to gender inequity faced by female orthopedic surgeons in Canada and to translate the range of solutions into a medical education model. METHODS: Open-text responses from a gender-bias survey of Canadian orthopedic surgeons who identified as women were analyzed qualitatively by 2 experts. The questions covered the domain of changes required to

Generational effect on nurses' work values, engagement, and satisfaction in an acute hospital.

BACKGROUND: The present nursing workforce comprises four generational of nurses working side-by-side. While such a generation blend adds invaluable diversity to the workforce, it also brings added complexity. The study aimed to describe and summarise work values and attitudes of four nursing generations, namely Baby boomers, Generation X, Y and Z. METHOD: A cross-sectional questionnaire study was adopted. A total of 778 nurses from an acute hospital in Singapore completed the online questionnaire. The Work Value and Attitude scale measuring seven constructs (Work Centrality, Non-compliance, T

Global health and care worker migration requires a global response.

The global migration of the health and care workforce (HCWF) has intensified, leading to complex policy scenarios and diverse migration patterns. While the traditional narrative of individual health and care workers (HCWs) migrating from low- and middle-income countries to high-income countries in search of higher income, career prospects and working conditions remains relevant, it now coexists with many other drivers, incentives, and dynamics at individual and policy level. The evolving dynamics of HCW migration have profound implications extending far beyond health labour markets, influencin

Inequities in inflammatory bowel disease care: a Tasmanian case study with proposed solutions.

There is well-recognised inequity of care for people treated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) between metropolitan and regional areas. We aim to describe these barriers to care using Tasmania as a case example and to suggest solutions for addressing these barriers that can be used in Tasmania and beyond. Tasmania has some of the highest rates of IBD in the world, with high rates of advanced therapy use reflecting a more complex population. The landscape of IBD care in Tasmania is marked by diverse challenges, some of which are unique to the state and others shared across regional Australi

Implementation and Strategies to Support Adoption of the World Heart Federation Roadmap on Cardiac Rehabilitation: A Pathway to Improve Lifelong Cardiovascular Health.

An ageing population means more people are living longer with cardiovascular disease. As a result, health systems face sustained pressures to provide effective long-term care. Cardiac rehabilitation has evolved from group-based exercise-based programs to comprehensive secondary prevention, with a growing focus on supporting lifelong cardiovascular health. The World Heart Federation (WHF) recently published a Roadmap that advances this shift by reframing cardiovascular rehabilitation around person-centred, future-focused care, and identifying five key recommendations: prioritise lifelong health

Implementing early warning systems for sepsis recognition in African healthcare settings: an Angolan perspective.

Sepsis remains a major cause of preventable mortality, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where delayed recognition of clinical deterioration continues to contribute substantially to poor outcomes. The 2026 Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines reaffirm that early identification and timely intervention are key determinants of survival. However, implementing these recommendations in resource-limited African healthcare settings remains challenging. Early Warning Scores, including the Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), National Early Warning Score (NEWS) and NEWS2, provide simple

TGF-Β1 & PNPLA3 Genetic Variants and the Risk of Hepatic Fibrosis and HCC in Egyptian Patients with HCV-Related Liver Cirrhosis.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of the hospital at home (HAH) model, driven by the 2020 CMS Acute Hospital Care at Home waiver that removed financial barriers to reimbursement. With more than 330 hospitals across 130 health systems implementing HAH, this care model offers promising outcomes and experiences while addressing rising health care costs and an aging population. However, further research is needed to define its scalability, appropriate patient populations, and long-term viability. To address these gaps, Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic established the Cleveland Clinic-
