The corrosion pattern of dental amalgam in aqueous media was interpreted theoretically by means of log(ai/a(ref))-pe diagrams. The definitions on which the diagrams were based were given, and their features were described. All sparingly soluble compounds which were expected to be formed in reactions with the solvents considered were listed. All the corrosion products reported in the current literature were found to be formed, and the conditions for their formation were established. It emerged that it was necessary to exclude other sparingly soluble compounds with theoretically might be formed.

The fat component of meals has been thought to make a major contribution to the colonic response to feeding. We have combined gamma scintigraphy and radiotelemetry to noninvasively study the response of the normally inaccessible proximal colon after ingestion of either a high or low fat meal. Separate studies were performed to measure the rate of passage of the same meals through the whole gut. The transit of pharmaceutical dosage forms through the colon has been shown to be highly variable. The amount of fiber in the diet is known to alter gastrointestinal transit; however, the dietary intake of the subjects in previous studies was not adequately controlled. The kinetics of 111In-oxine-labeled platelets was studied in 37 patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and in 12 control subjects using gamma-chamber. A comparison was made of the parameters of the kinetics, survival and sequestration type of platelets, as well as their recovery and exchange. In less severe processes the splenic type, while in more severe disease--the hepatic type of sequestration prevailed.

The existence of a lag phase during the gastric emptying of solid foods is controversial. A simultaneous investigation of platelet regeneration time (PRT) based upon malondialdehyde (MDA) recovery after a single oral intake of 500 mg of aspirin and of platelet survival time (PST) after labelling with 51chromium or 111indium oxine was performed in 25 cancerous patients.
