There appear to be no criteria in the differential diagnosis of traumatic and congenital subluxation of the proximal tibiofibular joint in the literature. We report a case with bilateral congenital subluxation of the proximal tibiofibular joint and describe the magnetic resonance imaging features for the differential diagnosis.

Recurrent dislocation of the proximal tibiofibular joint is a rare injury. It has been reported in parachutists and water-skiers. A technique for reconstructing the joint by using an iliotibial band fascial graft is described. This technique is recommended for recurrent dislocations of a nonarthritic proximal tibiofibular joint.

Wedge recession is a method which utilizes the geometry of similar triangles to recess an articular wedge into the underlying bone. This concept has been applied to congenital luxating patellae in the dog. A trochlear wedge recession deepens the femoral trochlea and provides stability to the patella. The X-ray technique for the tangential visualization of the patellofemoral joint is described; 3 X-ray signs (patellofemoral angle, patellofemoral index and patellofemoral displacement) are proposed as diagnostic aids in cases of subluxation of the patella and chondromalacia patellae. Theoretically, the pathogenesis of chondromalacia patellae and patellofemoral osteoarthritis may be explained as manifestations of cartilage damage secondary to lateral patellofemoral hyperpressure and medial patellofemoral hyperpressure.

We perform prospective study to evaluate the isokinetic performance of quadriceps before and 1 year after medial patella-femoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction with the adductor magnus tendon in the case of recurrent patellar dislocation. The present study is the first to describe the isokinetic function of the quadriceps of the involved and uninvolved extremity, in such a wide range. The MPFL is a crucial passive stabilizer of patella and, along with the conditions of the anatomical shape of the femoral-patellar joint and the function of quadriceps, influences the overall patellar stability.

For 25 years, 102 hematogenous septic arthritis have been observed in 82 newborns and infants.
