BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this retrospective chart review was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined intravitreal long-acting corticosteroids and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapeutic agents for resistant cystoid macular edema associated with diabetic retinopathy, or diabetic macular edema (DME).

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: Case report of a five-year-old boy presenting with a painless swelling of the left knee with decreased range of motion.
METHOD: Joint aspiration: fluid rich in red blood cells. X-ray--CT-scan--MRI: pigmented villonodular synovitis suspected. Arthroscopy with synovectomy and biopsy confirmed diagnosis. Because of remaining swelling one month after arthroscopy, intra-articular injection of triamcinolone hexacetonide gave a good result which has been maintained after 2 years.

In this study, we developed an in vivo vitiligo induction model to explore the underlying mechanisms leading to Koebner's phenomenon and to evaluate the efficacy of therapeutic strategies. OBJECTIVE: To examine recent trends in the use of inhaled beta 2-adrenergic agonists and inhaled corticosteroids for the treatment of asthma among Saskatchewan residents and to determine whether these trends are in keeping with widely publicized guidelines recommending a reduction in the use of agents to treat symptoms (i.e., inhaled beta 2-adrenergic agonists) and increased use of prophylactic agents (i.e., inhaled corticosteroids).

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of intralesional fiber with the KTP laser on treatment of hemangiomas in infancy. A series of 12 patients (1 month to 3 1/2 years) were treated for hemangioma of the head and neck regions. Results were as follows: 92 percent, > 50 percent reduction at 3 months; 8 percent, > 50 percent reduction at 6 months. OBJECTIVE: This study investigated multidimensional treatment outcomes, including prognostic factors and side effects of vocal fold steroid injection (VFSI).
METHODS: We recruited 126 consecutive patients, including patients with 49 nodules, 47 polyps, and 30 mucus retention cysts. All the patients received VFSI under local anesthesia in the office settings. Treatment outcomes were evaluated 1 and 2 months after the procedure, including endoscopic evaluation, perceptual voice quality (GRB scores), acoustic analysis, and 10-item Voice Handicap Index (VHI-10).
