Feasibility and diagnostic performance of digital radiography in gastrointestinal imaging have not been fully investigated. BACKGROUND: Cold snare polypectomy (CSP) is widely practiced; however, the endoscopic features of the CSP mucosal defect have not been studied. In particular, protrusions within the cold snare defect (CSDPs) may create concern for residual polyp. The frequency and constituents of this phenomenon are unknown.

Mesenchymal anal and perianal tumors are relatively uncommon. The majority are malignant. Benign mesenchymal anal tumors are rare. Some are common stromal neoplasms, but with the rare presentation as anal polyps. Other lesions are rare, but unique to the anal/perianal region. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted to review the data from January 1, 1991 to December 31, 2005 at the National Taiwan University Hospital. A rare case of adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) in which multiple lymphomatous polyposis (MLP) was revealed throughout the entire gastrointestinal tract is reported here. In the period from 1.8.89 to 1.7.92 140 adenomas and 63 carcinomas were locally resected from the rectosigmoid area with the instruments of TEM. The mortality was 0.5%, the rate of dehiscence of the suture 9.8%. 75% of these were treated conservatively. One of the 29 patients with locally resected pTl-low risk-carcinoma developed a recurrence so far. The rate of recurrent adenomas was 1.4%. From 7.1.1992 to 24.5.1993 21 procedures in colorectal surgery were performed laparoscopically or in a combined laparoscopic transanal operation. Hypertrichosis lanuginosa acquisita is regarded as an obligatory cutaneous paraneoplasm and is defined as the sudden and excessive appearance of lanugo hairs on the entire integument associated with malignant neoplasm of internal organs. We observed such a case of hypertrichosis in a 30-year-old man with a long history of ulcerative colitis who developed carcinoma of the caecum with lymph node metastasis.

The biochemical events that make colonic epithelial cells proceed along the adenoma-carcinoma sequence are not well understood.
