PURPOSE: Numerous surgical techniques and fixation methods have been described in medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction such as choice of graft, graft fixation method of patella/femur and initial tension. PURPOSE: Morbidly obese patients who sustained popliteal vascular injury after spontaneous knee dislocation (KD) were studied.
METHODS: Seven morbidly obese patients (body mass index [BMI] >35 kg/m2 and >100 lb over ideal body weight) who sustained spontaneous KD while upright were reviewed.

Congenital convex pes valgus is a rare, complex and heterogeneous anomaly of the foot, which is difficult to treat. From 1985 to 1994, we treated 14 patients (20 feet) with this deformity. There were six boys and eight girls. Six patients had bilateral involvement. Their ages at the time of surgery ranged from 4 to 32 months (mean, 13 mo). Outcomes of arthroplasty in sub-Saharan Africa are not widely reported. To our knowledge, this systematic review is the first to explore this topic. To investigate high school football injuries, we analyzed 1,877 injuries (661 game, 1,216 practice) treated from 1976 through 1979 at the Sports Medicine Clinic at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. The common injury types were sprain (32.2%), contusion (24.8%), strain (12.4%), fracture (11.0%), tear (3.8%), dislocation (2.1%), myositis ossificans (1.4%), tendinitis (1.3%), and concussion (1.0%). BACKGROUND: Lesions of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) are the most common knee ligament injuries and, when they occur in isolation, they often progress with satisfactory outcomes using conservative treatment. However, MCL lesions associated with anterior cruciate ligament or posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries in knee dislocations should be reconstructed to prevent failure of the central pivot. In knees with combined injuries involving the PCL and the MCL, the confluence of tunnels in the medial femoral condyle can be a potential problem during reconstruction surgery.
