Renal oncocytosis is a recently established disease entity characterized by numerous oncocytic tumors and diffuse involvement of oncocytic changes in renal parenchymal epithelia. This chapter of the Lung Cancer Guidelines addresses patients with particular forms of non-small cell lung cancer that require special considerations. This includes patients with Pancoast tumors, T4N0,1M0 tumors, satellite nodules in the same lobe, synchronous and metachronous multiple primary lung cancers (MPLC), and solitary metastases. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the computed tomography (CT) thoracic findings in Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) and evaluate the association of these findings with the BRAFV600E mutation.
METHODS: This was a prospective study of patients with ECD (n=61, men=46) who underwent thoracic CT imaging. CT examinations were independently interpreted by two experienced radiologists. Association of imaging findings with BRAFV600E was achieved via the Chi-square or Fisher's exact test and odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI), as appropriate.

Nocardiosis is an uncommon infection, which is exceptionally present as a postoperative event. A case of postoperative pulmonary and cerebro-meningeal infection caused by Nocardia otitidiscaviarum after a leg amputation in a diabetic patient is reported. Diagnosis has been delayed and the clinical, radiological and microbiological causes of this delay are assessed from a quality of care management point of view. Recommendations are proposed regarding physicians' role and optimized microbiological procedures for recognition of slowly growing nocardial strains.
