BACKGROUND: Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is a chronic progressive disease of the oral cavity that is considered a common potentially malignant disorder in South Asia. Areca nut chewing is the main etiological factor, but its carcinogenic mechanism has yet to be proven. The purpose of this study was to identify the useful biomarkers in predicting high-risk patients with OSF.

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate clinical manifestations and treatment protocols in patients with a diagnosis of nasal foreign bodies.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively evaluated 130 patients (72 males, 58 females; mean age 3.65±2.31 years; range 15 month to 72 years) who were diagnosed with nasal foreign bodies and received treatment between November 2008 and July 2013. A new system design and setup are proposed for the combined use of asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) and hollow-fiber flow field-flow fractionation (HF5) within the same instrumentation. OBJECTIVE: The health effects of a supplemented Mediterranean diet (SMD) with extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) and nuts are well documented in non-HIV-infected individuals. We hypothesised that the benefits of an SMD could be mediated by changes in the gut microbiota, even in those with an altered intestinal microbiota such as people living with HIV.

BACKGROUND: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory peptides were found to alleviate acute hepatitis significantly. In this study, we purified and identified ACE inhibitory peptide from cashew to evaluate its protective role on alcohol-induced acute hepatitis in mice.
