Tendon transfers for wrist and finger dorsiflexion, when required, remain unencumbered.
DISCUSSION: The procedures are safe, effective and easily feasible. The ideal candidate has a C5-C6 injury and a normal hand function.

Primary repair of acute subscapularis (SSC) tears provides excellent results, but tendon retraction, muscle atrophy, fatty infiltration, and humeral head migration may render a more chronic tear irreparable. Manipulation and casting according to the Ponseti method are the 'gold standard' for clubfoot treatment, and this method is endorsed by the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. We conducted a retrospective study from January 2004 to December 2012 in our institution. A 23-year-old healthy laborer involved in a work-related injury, sustained excessive left ankle plantarflexion, which resulted in closed rupture of the extensor hallucis longus muscle without any predisposing factors. He had an associated fracture of the second metatarsal shaft. The muscle proximal to the musculotendinous junction was excised, and the tendon was looped through a longitudinal slit in the main extensor digitorum communis tendon and sutured to it. Distal radius fractures are among the most commonly encountered fractures in the extremities. Volar plating of distal radius fracture has gained popularity in recent years with the introduction of the locked plating system. Complications of volar plating include extensor and flexor tendon rupture. Here we present a case report of an extensor indicis proprius and extensor digitorum communis to index finger tendon rupture after open reduction and internal fixation of distal radius fracture with locked plate.

Elderly patients with symptomatic Achilles tendinopathy who develop insertional ruptures develop are at risk of persistent pain and poor functional outcome. No controlled trials regarding management of chronic Achilles tendon ruptures have been published. We conducted an online survey of orthopedic surgeons affiliated with US medical schools.
