Effect of aerobic fitness on the validity of the Calera Research™ sensor to estimate core temperature during exercise.

The Calera Research™ is a heat flux device advertised to estimate core temperature (Tc) during physical activity and is widely used by athletes in various sport disciplines. The device estimates Tc from skin temperature, heart rate, and heat flux, outcomes that can be affected by aerobic fitness. However, there is a relatively small body of literature exploring its validity and, specifically, how the device bias may be influenced by aerobic fitness. The objective of this study was to assess the validity of the Calera Research™ sensor compared with telemetric ingestible pills for estimating Tc

Development and piloting of an online course to improve knowledge, confidence and attitudes towards triaging images of skin lesions submitted online in primary care.

BACKGROUND: Melanoma is the 5th commonest cancer in the UK and survivors require frequent and thorough skin checks. During the Achieving Self-directed Integrated Cancer Aftercare (ASICA) trial, melanoma survivors used an app to submit images of concerning lesions for assessment by a dermatology nurse. In the past, online courses have been used to train non-specialist primary care practitioners (PCPs) in this skill. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to determine whether an online course could increase knowledge, confidence, and attitudes towards skin image triage in PCPs in the Grampian area. METH

African American patient perspectives on barriers and facilitators to tobacco-cessation treatment.

African American veterans who use tobacco use evidence-based tobacco-cessation treatment less than other racial/ethnic groups, contributing to higher tobacco-related treatment burden for them. This study aimed to assess barriers and facilitators African American patients face before engaging in Veterans Health Administration behavioral tobacco-cessation treatment services, as an initial step to identify new implementation strategies. African American veterans (N = 30) who use tobacco at a large Veterans Affairs Medical Center completed interviews about perceived barriers and facilitators to be

Dimensional early life adversity and anxiety symptoms: A network analysis and longitudinal study.

BACKGROUND: Accumulating literature has found a close relation between early life adversity (ELA) and anxiety. However, previous studies did not rule out the high co-occurrence of different types of ELA when exploring the association of ELA and anxiety. In the present study, we carried out network analysis based on a cross-sectional sample and longitudinal sample to investigate the relationship between ELA and anxiety symptoms in non-clinical populations over time. METHODS: Online advertisement was carried out to recruit participants. The cross-sectional sample included 871 Chinese participan

A Feasibility Trial on Intranasal Evaporative Cooling for Acute Migraine in an At-Home Setting.

BACKGROUND: A significant proportion of people with migraine do not achieve sufficient relief of their acute migraine symptoms with the currently available medications. A previous study showed that intranasal evaporative cooling reduced headache and migraine-associated symptoms when given in an outpatient clinic setting. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of self-administering the same intervention for acute migraine in an at-home setting. The findings of this study were intended to inform the design and implementation of a planned full-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT). METHO
