The prevalence of a diabetic condition and adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder.

OBJECTIVES: Adhesive capsulitis is characterized by a progressive and painful loss of shoulder motion of unknown etiology. Previous studies have found the prevalence of adhesive capsulitis to be slightly greater than 2% in the general population. However, the relationship between adhesive capsulitis and diabetes mellitus (DM) is well documented, with the incidence of adhesive capsulitis being two to four times higher in diabetics than in the general population. It affects about 20% of people with diabetes and has been described as the most disabling of the common musculoskeletal manifestations

The painful shoulder.

The shoulder, a very common site of pain syndromes in medical practice, lends itself well to precise clinical analysis and identification of the pain-sensitive structure or structures. Once identified, rational and effective management can be applied, associated with predictably good prognosis. Early identification of the emerging specific syndrome is important in decreasing the duration of the clinical disorder and in achieving optimum return of shoulder function. Laboratory and X-ray studies are not commonly required in diagnosis and management. There are a confusing variety of names attache

Influence of bump height and bump-calcaneus ratio on clinical outcomes following calcaneoplasty for Haglund's deformity: a prospective study.

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic calcaneoplasty has gained increasing popularity in recent years for the treatment of Haglund’s deformity, which is characterized by a posterosuperior calcaneal prominence and associated retrocalcaneal bursitis. However, the relationship between preoperative calcaneal morphological parameters and postoperative clinical outcomes remains unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate whether bump height and the bump–calcaneus ratio, measured on preoperative radiographs, are associated with clinical or radiological outcomes following endoscopic calcaneoplasty. …

The Global Seroprevalence of Equine Brucellosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Based on Publications From 1990 to 2022.

Brucellosis, a bacterial infection caused by Brucella spp., is a widespread zoonosis concerning human and animal health. In equines, brucellosis may occur asymptomatically or with clinical signs such as arthritis, bursitis, and tenosynovitis. This study aims to ascertain the overall seroprevalence of equine brucellosis and its related factors, including geographic region, serological detection method, equine's species, gender, age, and body condition. This is because equine brucellosis is a zoonotic infection with significant epidemiological implications. The systematic literature search was c…

Comparison of subacromial tenoxicam and steroid injections in the treatment of impingement syndrome.

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to assess and compare the efficacy of subacromial tenoxicam and steroid injections in treating patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. [Rhizomelic pseudopolyarthritis: update].

PURPOSE: Update of recent works on polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). CURRENT KNOWLEDGE ANS KEY POINTS: In polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) unassociated with giant cell arteritis (GCA) (twice as frequent as GCA without PMR) several recent works demonstrated by MRI or echography that synovitis and/or subacromial bursitis accounted for most of the painful shoulders and could be relieved by steroid injections. Peripheral synovitis can also occur in 10-20% of PMR, and lead to consideration of other diagnoses, mostly RA or the RS3PE syndromes for those cases of PMR with peripheral edema. PMR with asymmetric…
