A 47-year-old woman with a medical history of pseudoxanthoma elasticum and associated choroidal neovascularisation that was successfully managed with intravitreal bevacizumab injections developed non-squamous non-small cell lung carcinoma. The patient's oncological medication regimen included systemic bevacizumab. During the 22 months that the patient received systemic bevacizumab for management of her malignancy, intravitreal bevacizumab injections were held and the patient's visual acuity remained stable and the subretinal space was free of fluid leakage.

PURPOSE: Diffuse choroidal hemangioma (DCH), a feature of Sturge-Weber syndrome, is most often treated with whole-eye radiotherapy at stage of complications such as retinal detachment.

This report describes a case of orbital B-cell lymphoma of extranodal marginal cell type with atypical clinical and radiographic features. This patient presented with choroidal effusion and optic disk swelling of the right eye. A CT scan revealed an intraconal mass surrounding the optic nerve and indenting the globe. A right orbitotomy with biopsy of the mass was performed. Histologic and immunohistochemical analysis confirmed a diagnosis of extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma. BACKGROUND: Little is known about the risks, effects and results of phacoemulsification following treatment with different modalities of choroidal melanoma.
METHODS: In a retrospective study, records were evaluated of 72 patients who underwent cataract surgery after treatment of choroidal melanoma (35 were treated with iodine-125 plaques, 27 with ruthenium-106 plaques, eight by tumor excision, and two with proton beam irradiation). OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the study is to evaluate clinically the use of microwave-heating (hyperthermia) as an adjuvant to ophthalmic plaque irradiation for treatment of patients with uveal melanoma. Twenty-one patients with intraocular disease were studied by magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography (CT). In 13 cases, malignant uveal melanoma was considered the likely diagnosis. Both imaging methods were accurate in determining the location and size of uveal melanomas. Nonrhegmatogenous retinal detachments occur in the pediatric population secondary to other ocular disorders. The most important cause to identify is retinoblastoma. Computed tomography has proven to be the most reliable ancillary diagnostic test in this pediatric population. A series of eighty patients, presenting with nonrhegmatogenous retinal detachments, was examined. The role of computed tomography and characteristic clinical findings are discussed.

In the removal of tumours that develop within the third ventricle, most approaches are not entirely satisfactory. BACKGROUND: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been used occasionally as an alternative treatment for uveal melanomas. The present study describes the clinical and histopathologic features of five choroidal melanomas after PDT.
METHODS: Three patients with pigmented choroidal melanomas were treated with PDT and intravitreal bevacizumab 1 week before undergoing biopsy and brachytherapy to minimize the risks of bleeding during the biopsy. Another two patients received PDT as a primary treatment for peripapillary amelanotic melanomas, one of them also in combination with bevacizumab.
