Autoimmune progesterone dermatitis is a rare clinical condition associated with variable cutaneous and mucosal eruptions such as urticaria, erythema multiforme, and eczema. Exacerbation is influenced by hormonal changes of the menstrual cycle. We report on 3 cases of adverse cutaneous drug reactions of erythema multiforme type. Despite the serious previous clinical conditions, patch tests with the possible causative drugs have been performed in all our patients, because of multiple candidate drugs and the need of the patients for further treatment with at least some of the agents. Six patients are described whose myeloproliferative disorders were complicated by inflammation in small, predominantly cutaneous blood vessels. The occurrence of multinucleated epidermal giant cells (MEGCs) with more than three clumping nuclei has been considered an episodic and exceptional phenomenon in inflammatory skin diseases. A cat was presented with acute-onset exfoliative erythroderma and gross and histopathological lesions of erythema multiforme. Marked cardiovascular abnormalities including heart failure occurred concurrently and a dermatogenic enteropathy was also seen. One hundred and thirty seven adults with adverse cutaneous reactions to systemic drugs seen in two referral centres in northern Saudi Arabia, over a period of three years were reviewed. Urticaria, sometimes occurring with angioedema was the most common pattern observed. It was seen in 35% of cases and the culprit drugs in most instances were the salicylates and the penicillins.
