BACKGROUND: Aberrant expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) has been associated with the pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension (PH). It is, however, not clear whether miRNAs are involved in estrogen rescue of PH.
METHODS: Fresh plasma samples were prepared from 12 idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) patients and 12 healthy controls undergoing right heart catheterization in Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital. From each sample, 5 μg of total RNA was tagged and hybridized on microRNA microarray chips. Monocrotaline-induced PH (MCT-PH) male rats were treated with 17β-estradiol (E2 ) or vehicle.

Mammary-like vulvar carcinoma represents an extremely rare disease. Here, the authors report a case of mammary-like ductal carcinoma of the vulva. A 71-year-old woman affected by stage T2N1M0 mammary-like vulvar carcinoma underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy, radical vulvectomy, and adjuvant antioestrogen hormone therapy. The patient is alive, 24 months after surgery, with no clinical and radiological evidence of disease. To provide a better insight in to the clinical approach for this rare disease, a review of the available literature was performed.

Three patients are presented, treated for advanced retroperitoneal fibrosis (Ormond's disease) in two cooperating departments: urology and internal diseases departments. In these three patients excision of fibrotic ureter fragments was performed, followed by combined treatment with corticosteroids and tamoxifen. The authors believe that immediate surgical therapy and subsequent treatment with corticosteroids and tamoxifen leads to regression of retroperitoneal fibrosis.

This report describes the case of a 67-year-old male with inflammatory breast cancer. He had noticed a left breast mass about seven years previously, but he had ignored it. He then visited our hospital 4 months previously when multiple small masses occurred in the left front chest wall. BACKGROUND: Breast cancer (BC) is a life-threatening disease, with approximately 60% of cases progressing to breast cancer lung metastasis (BCLM). Chamuangone, a key bioactive constituent derived from the leaves of the Thai plant Garcinia cowa Roxb., has demonstrated significant potential as an anticancer agent. To evaluate its anticancer effects, chamuangone was purified from the leaves and assessed through in silico, in vitro, and in vivo studies using a mouse model of BC.
