BACKGROUND: The diagnosis of ocular sarcoidosis is particularly challenging in patients who present with atypical clinical findings and no evidence of systemic disease. We describe a patient whose initial clinical manifestation of sarcoidosis was a unilateral hemorrhagic retinopathy.

UNLABELLED: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of treatment with anti-thymocyte globulin in patients with Wegener's granulomatosis, untreatable with cyclophosphamide and steroids.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Five patients with active Wegener's granulomatosis, either not responsive to standard therapy, or who could not tolerate alkylating agents received a single course of rabbit anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG).
RESULTS: Four patients showed a favourable response to treatment with partial or complete remission of disease activity, during a follow-up period of five to twelve months.

In the right eye of an 11-year-old girl, a large iridociliochoroidal mass developed that measured approximately 14 x 12 x 9 mm in size. The tumor initially resembled a uveal melanoma on the basis of clinical appearance and ancillary studies. Enucleation was not done, however, because of the patient's age and the unusual transillumination properties of the lesion. PURPOSE: We report the first case of fungal keratitis caused by Cryptococcus laurentii, a nonneoformans species.
METHODS: A case of C. laurentii keratitis in a diabetic, gas permeable contact lens wearer was diagnosed after microbiologic evaluation of the corneal button after emergent keratoplasty. The excised cornea was also culture positive for Staphylococcus aureus and Fusarium solani. The medical history was significant for onychomycosis of the right great toe 2 months previously. Cultures of the toenail and of the contact lens case were also positive for C. laurentii and F. solani.

BACKGROUND: High-density porous polyethylene (Medpor) has been used successfully as an implant in orbital fracture repair and in the management of both cosmetic and post-traumatic facial deformities. BACKGROUND: Glaucoma is a painful and blinding condition that occurs in many species, including rabbits. When medication is no longer effective in maintaining intraocular pressure (IOP), enucleation is the recognized treatment for rabbits with end-stage glaucoma. However, this procedure carries risks relating to the procedure and the anesthesia.
AIM: The aim of this retrospective study was to report the efficacy of intravitreal gentamicin injection in controlling IOP in blind eyes of rabbits with end-stage glaucoma. Ocular and non-ocular complications were retrospectively assessed.
