Detection of recurrent colorectal carcinoma can be a diagnostic challenge. The authors report a case of a patient who, after resection of his primary colorectal carcinoma, had a recurrence that was not detected by MRI or serial CT examination, but was clearly demonstrated by In-111 labeled CYT-103 scintigraphy. This case demonstrates the use of CYT-103 scintigraphy in detecting recurrent colorectal cancer in a patient, despite results of nondiagnostic MRI or serial CT examinations.

Technetium (99mTc) labelled, polyclonal human immunoglobulin (HIG) is a new agent that detects focal infection and inflammation. This new agent was compared in 40 patients with the accepted standard, namely 111In-oxine-labelled leucocytes. This comparison resulted in a sensitivity of 94% and a specificity of 96% for 99mTc-HIG when 111In-oxine leucocytes were defined as giving the true result. To evaluate the clinical usefulness of immunoscintigraphy with OC 125 in ovarian carcinoma, we studied 25 patients suspected of having ovarian carcinoma or in follow-up after surgery. Fourteen patients were studied with 131I-OC 125 F(ab')2 and 11 with 111In-OC 125 F(ab')2. No differences were observed with the use of either radionuclide. The presence or absence of venous thrombosis was determined by the technique of autologous 111indium-labelled platelets in 64 patients following reduction and fixation of fractures of the neck of femur.
