PURPOSE: Industrial workers are frequently exposed to noise and the noise can cause hearing loss. The relationship between vestibular abnormalities and long-term exposure to occupational noise has been reported. The aim of this study was to use vHIT (video head impulse test) to evaluate the semicircular canal's function in industrial workers with noise-induced hearing loss.

The experience at the Mayo Clinic with 18 patients who had Cogan's syndrome is reviewed. Typically, the illness began with systemic symptoms. The ocular and audiovestibular symptoms included ocular discomfort and redness, photophobia, and fluctuating sensorineural deafness with imbalance. The objective of the study is to evaluate postural dysfunction of multiple system atrophy-parkinsonian type (MSA-P) and cerebellar type (MSA-C) by static posturography exam. OBJECTIVE: The influence of tumor size on postural control of patients with vestibular schwannoma (VS) remains to be determined. This study aimed to compare the postural performances of VS patients, according to the size of the tumor, with healthy subjects.
METHODS: The six conditions (C1-C6) of the sensory organization test (SOT) were carried out in 87 patients, split into four groups according to the Koos classification (stage I-IV), and in 72 aged-matched controls to evaluate postural control. Horizontal eye displacement in total darkness during lateral tilting about the body axis was examined in 14 patients with unilateral loss of labyrinth function, including 8 cases of positional vertigo or dizziness and 6 symptom-free cases. Six equilibrium measures were administered to 50 boys with learning disabilities, 25 with and 25 without suspected vestibular system dysfunction. Pearson product moment correlations were computed between test scores for the total sample and for each subgroup to establish concurrent validity between tests.
