BACKGROUND: Recently, stereotacitc radiosurgery (SRS) has been in the spotlight as an alternative therapeutic option for jugular foramen schwannomas (JFS). While most reported studies focus on the long-term efficacy and safety issues of SRS, none describe the early-onset adverse events (eAEs). A surgical series of 30 cervico-mediastinal thyroid cancer patients operated on has been retrospectively reviewed. Results were compared with those obtained in patients operated on for benign cervico-mediastinal goiter and thyroid cancer confined to cervical region. Of 4688 thyroidectomies performed, 30 patients were operated on for thyroid carcinoma with cervico-mediastinal extension. There were 15 males and 15 females. UNLABELLED: Primary solitary plasmacytoma and Ewing's sarcoma of the chest wall are relatively uncommon tumors, and data concerning treatment and results are sparse. To assess the results of therapy we reviewed our 40-year experience.
METHODS: Records of 24 patients with solitary plasmacytoma and 62 with Ewing's sarcoma arising in the chest wall who were admitted to our institution from 1949 to 1989 were reviewed.

Using actuarial methods, factors influencing long-term graft survival were examined in 33,594 recent (since 1974) kidney transplants reported to the University of California, Los Angeles, Transplant Registry.
