We studied color vision in 32 patients with autosomal recessive achromatopsia. Color matching revealed complete achromatopsia (rod monochromasy) in ten patients (Group I) and incomplete achromatopsia in the remaining twenty-two patients. Amongst the incomplete achromats, were three groups distinguishable by their color matching. The relationship between serum and CSF IgG has been analysed: (1) In patients with a normal CSF concentration of albumin, no correlation can be demonstrated between serum IgG and CSF IgG. (2) In cases where the CSF albumin concentration is elevated (i.e. transudation), local synthesis of IgG can be determined by reference of the degree of transudation of albumin and the serum IgG concentration. Various epidemiological studies show that sleep disturbances are very frequent. The clinician often treats these disturbances in a non specific way with hypnotic medication. He by-passes the diagnostic steps by doing this. Recently our knowledge on normal and pathological sleep has much increased. The aim of this article is to show that it is now possible to define a rational diagnostic approach having therapeutic implications.

Lesions involving the base of the skull can be divided into primary and secondary disease processes. The primary group consists of bone lesions more often seen elsewhere in the skeletal system while the secondary group consist of those lesions extending to the base of the skull by direct extension from adjacent intracranial or extracranial sites. Seven cases of annular pancreas are described. In all the diagnosis was confirmed at autopsy or at operation. This study provides a new, original classification for annular pancreas. Two distinct subtypes are described: type 1, extramural and type 2, intramural. In type 1 the presenting symptoms are those of high gastrointestinal obstruction. A study of the heredity and exogenic factors in 340 patients with manic-depressive psychosis makes it possible to draw a conclusion that the disorder is polyetiological. In a bipolar development there is mainly a hereditary loading and organic noxious factors, in a monopolar depression--exhaustive factors. The assumption of an existence of 2 independent psychoses (bipolar and monopolar) which was made by several foreign authors was not confirmed.

The distinction between primary and secondary syndactyly is made on the basis of their relation to the morphogenesis. The latter is associated with antecedent malformation which results in subsequent refusion of parts. Based on these considerations, a practical classification is suggested.
