Emission characteristics, source profiles and associated environmental impacts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from a typical oilfield centralized processing plant in Southern Xinjiang, China.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from oilfield processing activities have become an increasingly pressing issue for pollution mitigation in China. However, emission characteristics from oilfield processing facilities remain insufficiently understood, particularly at the process-unit level, hindering the development of precise control strategies. In this study, comprehensive field-based investigations and process-specific measurements were conducted to quantify and characterize VOCs emissions, environmental impacts and occupational carcinogenic risks in a typical oilfield centralized p

Mechanism of formation of p-benzylenephenol peroxide radical (p-PhC(O2•)HPhOH).

CONTEXT: The reactions of radicals with O2 play the important role in the biological, medicinal, and industrial processes. The mechanism of this reaction is studied previously for the alkane, alkene, alkyne, phenols, and close-related radicals. According to these studies, the formation of intermediates in these reactions is predicted only for the aromatic radicals. Thus, the Van der Waals complexes of O2 with phenyl or benzyl radicals are predicted, as well as the π-π cluster for benzene. However, the possibility of the formation of such intermediate π-π clusters in the case of bisphenol radic

α-Aminobisphosphonate Copolymers Based on Poly(ε-caprolactone)s and Poly(ethylene glycol): A New Opportunity for Actinide Complexation.

Original α-aminobisphosphonate-based copolymers were synthesized and successfully used for actinide complexation. For this purpose, poly(α-chloro-ε-caprolactone-co-ε-caprolactone)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(α-chloro-ε-caprolactone-co-ε-caprolactone) copolymers were first prepared by ring-opening copolymerization of ε-caprolactone (εCL) and α-chloro-ε-caprolactone using poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as a macro-initiator and tin(II) octanoate as a catalyst. The chloride functions were then converted to azide moieties by chemical modification, and finally α-aminobisphosphonate alkyne ligand (Tz

T315I-mutated chronic myeloid leukemia with blast crisis relapse 10 years after allo-HSCT: A case report of second transplantation combined with olverembatinib maintenance therapy.

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome and the resulting fusion proteins with abnormal tyrosine kinase activity. The treatment of CML includes allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) and TKI drug therapy. The BCR::ABL1 T315I mutation in CML leads to resistance to first- and second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), but is sensitive to two third-generation TKIs, olverembatinib and ponatinib. Olverembatinib, an oral third-generation BCR::ABL1 TKI, has preclinical activity again

HIV Viral Rebound on Dolutegravir, Lopinavir, and Efavirenz: National Program Data Analysis From Ukraine.

BACKGROUND: Dolutegravir (DTG), an integrase strand transfer inhibitor, is recommended as the preferred first-line HIV medication globally because of higher efficacy, better tolerability, and higher genetic barrier to resistance compared with other antiretroviral therapy (ART) drug classes. However, little is known about the comparative effectiveness of DTG in sustaining durable viral suppression (VS) in real-world settings. METHODS: We analyzed data from electronic health records of a retrospective cohort of ART-naïve (N = 3793) and ART-experienced (N = 14,367) people receiving HIV treatment

Comparative Effects of Efavirenz and Dolutegravir on Metabolomic and Inflammatory Profiles, and Platelet Activation of People Living with HIV: A Pilot Study.

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has reduced the mortality and morbidity associated with HIV. However, irrespective of treatment, people living with HIV remain at a higher risk of developing non-AIDS-associated diseases. In 2019, the World Health Organization recommended the transition from efavirenz (EFV)- to dolutegravir (DTG)-based ART. Data on the impact of this transition are still limited. The current study therefore investigated the metabolic profiles, cytokine inflammatory responses, and platelet activation before and after the treatment transition. Plasma samples from nine virally suppres

Efficacy and safety of artemether-lumefantrine as treatment for Plasmodium falciparum uncomplicated malaria in adult patients on efavirenz-based antiretroviral therapy in Zambia: an open label non-randomized interventional trial.

BACKGROUND: HIV-infected individuals on antiretroviral therapy (ART) require treatment with artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) when infected with malaria. Artemether-lumefantrine (AL) is the most commonly used ACT for treatment of falciparum malaria in Africa but there is limited evidence on the safety and efficacy of AL in HIV-infected individuals on ART, among whom drug-drug interactions are expected. Day-42 adequate clinical and parasitological response (ACPR) and incidence of adverse events was assessed in HIV-infected individuals on efavirenz-based ART with uncomplicated falcipar

Exploring an alternative explanation for the second phase of viral decay: Infection of short-lived cells in a drug-limited compartment during HAART.

Most HIV-infected patients who initiate combination antiretroviral therapy experience a viral load decline in several phases. These phases are characterized by different rates of viral load decay that decrease when transitioning from one phase to the next. There is no consensus as to the origin of these phases. One hypothesis put forward is that short- and long-lived infected cells are responsible for the first and second phases of decay, respectively. However, significant differences in drug concentrations are observed in monocytes from various tissues, suggesting the first two phases of deca

l-cysteine desulfhydrase-related H2 S production is involved in OsSE5-promoted ammonium tolerance in roots of Oryza sativa.

Previous studies revealed that rice heme oxygenase PHOTOPERIOD SENSITIVITY 5 (OsSE5) is involved in the regulation of tolerance to excess ammonium by enhancing antioxidant defence. In this study, the relationship between OsSE5 and hydrogen sulfide (H2 S), a well-known signalling molecule, was investigated. Results showed that NH4 Cl triggered the induction of l-cysteine desulfhydrase (l-DES)-related H2 S production in rice seedling roots. A H2 S donor not only alleviated the excess ammonium-triggered inhibition of root growth but also reduced endogenous ammonium, both of which were aggravated

Pharmacokinetics of para-aminosalicylic acid in HIV-uninfected and HIV-coinfected tuberculosis patients receiving antiretroviral therapy, managed for multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis.

The emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis prompted the reintroduction of para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS) to protect companion anti-tuberculosis drugs from additional acquired resistance. In sub-Saharan Africa, MDR/XDR tuberculosis with HIV coinfection is common, and concurrent treatment of HIV infection and MDR/XDR tuberculosis is required. Out of necessity, patients receive multiple drugs, and PAS therapy is frequent; however, neither potential drug interactions nor the effects of HIV infection are known. Potential drug-drug inte
