Blunt trauma rarely causes renal pedicle dissection. Clinical signs are minimal and inconsistently reported. The diagnosis is based on computed tomographic angiography; arteriography is still useful when revascularization is considered. We report here a case of traumatic dissection with thrombosis of a juxta-aortic renal pedicle monitored in the intensive care unit. An endovascular procedure could not be proposed because of the juxta-aortic localization.

This study will identify differences in musculoskeletal injury between pediatric riders of four-wheel all-terrain and motorized two-wheel (motorbike) vehicles who were presented to a pediatric trauma center from 2005 to 2011. Musculoskeletal injuries, protective equipment use, and associated injuries were compared. Unstable pelvic ring injuries are associated with an increased mortality rate, most commonly from severe hemorrhage. Circumferential pelvic antishock sheeting has proven effective for rapidly stabilizing the pelvic ring and has become an integral part of resuscitation protocols. Occipital condylar fractures (OCFs) seem to be rare. The exact incidence is unknown, but a few studies reported a 3-4% incidence of OCFs in patients with severe head injury and altered Glasgow Coma Scale score. The low incidence of OCFs and missed diagnoses in these patients may result in late neurological deficits. We report the history of a patient with bilateral OCFs, a combined fracture of the anterior arcus of the atlas and associated retropharyngeal and epidural cervical haematomas, who presented without life-threatening symptoms or neurological deficits.

AIM: To describe the management of blunt liver injury and to study the potential relation between delayed complications, type of trauma mechanisms and liver lesions.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective single center study including 116 consecutive patients admitted with blunt liver injury between 2007 and 2015.
