BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection(RPLND) is one of the main modalities for nonseminomatous germ cell tumors (NSGCTs). RPLND has achieved relatively high efficacy for stage I/II NSGCTs. Currently, the postoperative complication rate of conventional RPLND is relatively high. This study was to summarize therapeutic efficacy of modified RPLND for stageI/II NSGCTs, thus to explore the reasonable therapy strategy for those diseases.

Patients with primary mediastinal nonseminomatous germ cell tumors have a poor prognosis, with a 5-year overall survival of nearly 50%. We investigated the feasibility and activity of early high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) in these patients. OBJECTIVE: To analyze computed tomography (CT) features of primary non-teratomatous germ cell tumors of the mediastinum and to improve the diagnostic efficacy of CT for such tumor.
METHODS: Fifteen patients with primary non-teratomatous germ cell tumors of the mediastinum, proven pathologically, were enrolled. BACKGROUND: Germ cell tumors (GCTs) primarily affect adolescent and young adult men. Detailed clinical and treatment characteristics in older men are lacking.
METHODS: Patients with GCT seen over a 20-year period at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center were identified. Primary tumor site and histology were compared for patients aged ≥ 50 years at diagnosis versus younger men.
