The introduction of amines onto aromatics without metal catalysts and chemical oxidants is synthetically challenging. Herein, we report the first example of an electrochemical cross-dehydrogenative aromatization (ECDA) reaction of saturated cyclohexanones and amines to construct anilines without additional metal catalysts and chemical oxidants. This reaction exhibits a broad scope of cyclohexanones including heterocyclic ketones, affording a variety of aromatic amines with various functionalities, and shows great potential in the synthesis of biologically active compounds.

This study investigates the synthesis of formaldehyde-based xerogels using alternative aromatic precursors, with comparison to traditional resorcinol-formaldehyde analogues, in order to alter the chemical composition of the resulting gels. Multiple applications of isothioureas as fine chemicals (or their precursors) are known, but a general sustainable method for their synthesis was hitherto unavailable. We report a novel general approach towards S-alkyl and S-aryl isothioureas through a copper(I)-catalyzed three-component reaction between amines, isocyanides, and thiosulfonates. The formal synthesis of a superpotent sweetener further illustrates the applicability of our method.

Novel bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)amines were synthesized using two methods and studied for antitrichinellosis activity. DFT calculations were performed in order to determine the geometry of molecules. Gas-phase nitrosation of amines implies a nonionic pathway different from the nitrosonium nitrosation via acidification of nitrite. Electronic structure calculations discussed in this work suggest a free radical mechanism, in which NO2 abstracts a hydrogen atom from the nitrogen in primary and secondary amines to form an intermediate complex of an aminyl radical and nitrous acid. Circadian and circatrigintan (menstrual) rhythms in biogenic amines were studied in premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Selection of patients and controls was based on assessment of Menstrual Distress Questionnaires (MDQs). Previous data indicated a subgroup of Tourette's syndrome patients with a beta-phenylethylamine (PEA) level that was lower than all subjects in a control group matched for age and education. Two patients are presented whose chronic urticaria had previously failed to improve with antihistamine therapy or glucocorticoids. Both demonstrated marked improvement with dextroamphetamine sulfate. Both patients also had idiopathic orthostatic edema for which the treatment of choice is amphetamines. This study was designed to examine the relationship between regional levels of brain amines (norepinephrine, NE; dopamine, DA; serotonin, 5-HT) and plasma hormone levels (corticosterone, CS; growth hormone, GH) in rats following chronic morphine administration (40 mg/kg twice daily).
