Striated muscle hamartoma is a rare, benign mesenchymal neoplasm that typically arises in the midline of a newborn patient. We report a clinically and histopathologically classic case of striated muscle hamartoma presenting as a chin cyst in a newborn female.

CONTEXT: There have been many cases of medication-induced tremors. We report a patient who developed significant chin tremors after the administration of paroxetine.
CASE REPORT: A 68-year-old Vietnamese female with a past medical history including GIST and pancreatic cancer status post Whipple procedure and six months of adjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine presented with symptoms of anxiety for which she was treated with paroxetine. The combination of chin trauma and bleeding from the ear should alert the physician to the possibility of a mandibular fracture. Not all hemotympanums represent basilar skull fractures, especially when they occur in association with chin trauma. Diagnosis of mandibular condylar fractures or temporomandibular joint disruptions can be very difficult. A high index of suspicion and a proper choice of imaging modalities are necessary to ensure a timely diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Relative chin prominence is commonly observed in certain Class II malocclusion morphotypes, particularly in deep bite and Class II Division 2 patterns.
