We present a case of prolonged myocardial ischemia in a young healthy male presenting for nasal polypectomy and tonsillectomy. Induction of anesthesia proceeded uneventfully. Immediately after surgical incision, the patient developed a sinus tachycardia with ST-segment depression in leads II and III, and ST elevation in leads aVR, aVL, aVF, and V. Depth of anesthesia was increased, esmolol was administered, which slowed the heart rate, and the procedure was terminated. However, myocardial ischemia only gradually resolved, leaving residual T-wave flattening in lead III by day 3 postoperatively.

In this prospective, double-sided patient-controlled therapeutical trial involving 20 patients with alopecia areata, we investigated the efficacy of topical acid dibutylester (SADBE) in the treatment of alopecia areata. Sensitisation was achieved with 2% SADBE in acetone followed by weekly application of topical SADBE to designated alopecia sites for 20 weeks. Untreated alopecia sites on the same patient acted as controls. Nineteen of the twenty patients completed 20 weeks of treatment. Two hundred Type 2 diabetic patients newly referred to the diabetes centre at a large university teaching hospital were studied over an 8-month period. We report a case of a 54-year-old female diagnosed with HIV and antiretroviral therapy (ART) for the same. Seven years ago, she suffered from fever, cough and weight loss, was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis and also seropositive for HIV. She suffered from Herpes Zoster infection, after which her ART regimen was changed to TLD (tenofovir, lamivudine and dolutegravir). The patient presented with two episodes of pyoderma gangrenosum (PG), which were biopsy-proven, corresponding to a rise in CD4 counts above 500. She responded to glucocorticoids, both systemic and topical.
