PURPOSE: The use of protective equipment has been absent or inconsistent in scholastic women's lacrosse leading to increasing concern for eye and head injury. There is a paucity of field data, however, on which to base strategic decisions on how best to prevent head injuries in young athletes.
METHODS: This study examined the effects of protective eyewear on injury rates in scholastic women's lacrosse in a cohort of approximately 700 varsity and junior varsity players in central New York studied prospectively for 2 yr during a transition from sparse to almost complete eyewear use.

Exposure to blue light emitted by electronic devices has increased substantially in recent years and has been associated with enhanced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), potentially compromising ocular health. OBJECTIVE: To collate world reports of adverse events (AEs) resulting from lasers used in urology.
METHODS: The Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) database of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was searched using the term "Laser for gastro-urology use." In addition, the Rockwell Laser Industries (RLI) Laser Accident Database was searched for the following types of lasers: neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG), holmium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Ho:YAG), potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP), diode and thulium:YAG (Tm:YAG).

Psoriasis is a common skin disease which may be treated with 8-methoxy psoralen and long-wave ultraviolet light (PUVA). Eye protection is provided during and after treatment to prevent the development of photokeratitis and cataracts. Fifteen patients, treated with medication and ultraviolet A (UVA) had an initial complete eye examination and a repeat examination after each treatment. BACKGROUND: The eye occupies 0.1% of the total body surface yet it accounts for 8-13% of battle injuries in modern warfare worldwide. Protective eyewear can prevent over 90% of these eye injuries in both military and civilian settings. This study presents an analysis of a military casualty database and describes the proportion and distribution of eye injuries among Israel Defense Force (IDF) Soldiers.

CASE REPORT: We describe 2 patients who sustained eye injuries when tractor wheels exploded while being inflated. Descriptions of ocular involvement from such accidents are rare in the literature. One of our patients experienced severe eye trauma requiring enucleation. In the second case, despite trauma to both eyes, 20/20 vision was recovered.
COMMENTS: Injuries from exploding tires are compared to those seen in the context of air-bag deployment, and safety recommendations are discussed.

PURPOSE: To report the spectrum and the factors affecting the visual outcome of ocular injuries associated with maxillofacial trauma.
METHODOLOGY: A prospective observational study was carried out from January 2019 to June 2020 on patients of maxillofacial trauma at a rural tertiary care centre, in Pondicherry, India. OBJECTIVE: Describe the ophthalmological sequelae of patients diagnosed with blunt eye injury by paintball.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: There were a total 14 cases with a diagnosis of blunt trauma by paintball were treated at the ophthalmology emergency department of the Barraquer Clinic in Bogotá, Colombia. Construction workers have mostly preventable eye injuries. This pilot study investigated a convenience sample of 75 (72 men, 3 women) apprentice operating engineers. Most (52%) of the apprentices had been injured twice on the job. Injury was associated with age and longevity in the construction industry.
