Helicobacter pylori is the most common infection and is mostly asymptomatic in infected individuals. Only a few cases of collagenous gastritis associated with H. pylori infection have been reported in the previous literature. We report a case of a 54-year-old female presenting with heartburn and epigastric pain associated with bloating, gas, and sometimes constipation. The physical examination was unremarkable with a soft, non-tender, and non-distended abdomen. Upper endoscopy showed erythema in the stomach with non-erosive gastritis. Our patient was diagnosed with H. pylori-associated chronic

BACKGROUND AND AIM: In the gastric mucosa, pepsinogen II (PgII) is produced/secreted by glands in the mucus-secreting antral and cardia compartments, but also by the chief cells and the oxyntic glands. Increasing PgII serum levels are associated with the whole spectrum of gastric inflammatory diseases, including gastritis induced by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). This review critically addresses the clinical value of PgII serology for assessing gastric mucosal inflammation, and as a marker of H. pylori status, in both H. pylori-positive patients and after eradication therapy.
RESULTS: A sea

BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori ( H. pylori ) can persistently colonize on the gastric mucosa after infection and cause gastritis, atrophy, metaplasia, and even gastric cancer (GC).
METHODS: Therefore, the detection and eradication of H. pylori are the prerequisite.
RESULTS: Clinically, there are some controversial issues, such as why H. pylori infection is persistent, why it translocases along with the lesser curvature of the stomach, why there is oxyntic antralization, what the immunological characteristic of gastric chronic inflammation caused by H. pylori is, whether H. pylori infection

BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infects approximately 50% of the world population. Its infection is associated with gastropathies, extra-gastric digestive diseases, and diseases of other systems. There is a canonical process from acute-on-chronic inflammation, chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), intestinal metaplasia (IM), dysplasia, and intraepithelial neoplasia, eventually to gastric cancer (GC). H. pylori eradication abolishes the inflammatory response and early treatment prevents the progression to preneoplastic lesions.
METHODS: the test-and-treat strategy, endoscopy-based stra

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a bacterium that infects more than a half of world's population. Although it is mainly related to the development of gastroduodenal diseases, several studies have shown that such infection may also influence the development and severity of various extragastric diseases. According to the current evidence, whereas this bacterium is a risk factor for some of these manifestations, it might play a protective role in other pathological conditions. In that context, when considered the gastrointestinal tract, H. pylori positivity have been related to Inflammatory Bow

Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) is a Gram-negative flagellated microorganism that has been extensively studied since its first isolation due to its widespread diffusion and association with numerous diseases. While the bacterium is proved to be a causative factor for a number of gastric diseases such as gastritis, gastric adenocarcinoma, and MALT-lymphoma, its role at other gastrointestinal levels and in other systems is being thoroughly studied. In this article, we reviewed the latest published clinical and laboratory studies that investigated associations of H. pylori with hematologic diseas

OBJECTIVE: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoinflammatory disease caused by genetic susceptibility and environmental triggers, which include infectious agents. Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium that frequently colonizes the stomach, is associated with the development of certain autoinflammatory disorders. This study examined a possible association between H. pylori infection and RA.
METHOD: This cohort study was performed in the Central Denmark Region. Patients were enrolled from primary healthcare centres after a urea breath test (UBT) for H. pylori and followed for a median of 8 years. Nat

OBJECTIVE: The correlation between periodontitis and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in the mouth was analyzed.
METHOD: 70 elderly patients with periodontitis treated at our hospital from January 2013 to December 2014 were recruited. Dental plaques and gargle were collected for H. pylori detection using PCR technique. Periodontal health status of the patients was recorded. 70 control cases with healthy periodontium were also included. The symptoms of H. pylori infection in the mouth were compared between the two groups, and the results were analyzed statistically.
RESULTS: The posi

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is one of the most common human bacterial pathogens, and infection causes a wide array of gastric disorders, including simple gastritis, peptic ulcers and gastric malignancies. Gastrointestinal inflammation caused by H. pylori can influence the absorption of glucose and lipids, which are also abnormal in diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), formerly known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or adult-onset diabetes, is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by high levels of blood glucose resulting from insulin resistance and relative in

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease for which no specific reason has been found although various reasons have been suggested. Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative bacterium, which is essentially considered the cause of acute and chronic gastritis. Recently, several reports have suggested that H pylori could play a role in triggering psoriasis. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between H pylori seropositivity and psoriasis.
DESIGN AND SETTINGS: This was a case-control study performed on patients with psoriasis vulgaris and healthy

Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is a high prevalence of chronic infectious pathogens, though not necessarily lead to symptoms, but it can affect the immune system. More than of the world's population harbors the bacterium, and most adult Hp infection was obtained in childhood. Hp infection is a major cause of peptic ulcer, although children rarely suffer from peptic ulcer disease. Hp infection is closely related to chronic gastritis, dyspepsia, chronic diarrhea and recurrent abdominal pain in children. In recent years, Hp infection may also participate in some of non-digestive diseases, such as child

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is still the most prevalent infection of the world. Colonization of the stomach by this agent will invariably induce chronic gastritis which is a low-grade inflammatory state leading to local complications (peptic ulcer, gastric cancer, lymphoma) and remote manifestations. While H. pylori does not enter circulation, these extragastric manifestations are probably mediated by the cytokines and acute phase proteins produced by the inflammed mucosa. The epidemiologic link between the H. pylori infection and metabolic changes is inconstant and controversial. Growth d

Helicobacter cinaedi was first isolated from rectal cultures from homosexual men in 1984. In the 1980s to mid 1990s, the microorganism was mainly isolated from samples from homosexual men or immunocompromised patients; however, during the last two decades, H. cinaedi has been isolated from immunocompromised and from immunocompetent individuals worldwide. In Japan, the isolation of this microorganism was first reported in 2003. Since then, many cases have been reported in hospitals across the country. Despite many reports, the etiological properties and pathogenicity of H. cinaedi remain elusiv

There is a commonly held perception that Helicobacter pylori related diseases are declining, however these are still associated with a high risk of morbidity and mortality. In recent years worrying themes have emerged such as increasing levels of antibiotic resistance and falling cure rates which illustrate there is no room for complacency with respect to H. pylori. In addition there are many significant issues which have not been elucidated regarding the role played by H. pylori in very serious pathologies such as gastric and esophageal cancer and other more benign disorders common in the dev
