We isolated 6,561 Salmonella strains from food animals, cattle (n = 217), pigs (n = 1526), chickens (n = 3942), and ducks (n = 876). Isolates were evaluated for antimicrobial sensitivity, mutations in quinolone resistance determination regions (QRDRs), and plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) genes. Clonal relationship and genetic diversity were assessed by multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). Continent urinary reservoirs (CUR) have become one of the major options of urinary diversion for invasive bladder cancer patients who require cystectomy and cutaneous urinary diversion. We have experienced 100 cases of Kock pouch and 30 cases of indiana pouch during the past 5 years which comprise 45% of all cases. BACKGROUND: Alternatives to cutaneous diversion have included continent urinary diversion and replacement cystoplasty. Five-year experience with continent diversion is reported.
METHODS: Between 1989 and 1994, 29 patients underwent continent urinary diversion. Of these, 24 patients underwent Indiana pouch procedures and five patients had a Mitrofanoff-type procedure. All have now been followed up for at least 12 months.

BACKGROUND: The use of a phoropter for measuring phorias and vergences in children is common in the optometric profession. For young children, the use of the phoropter can be confusing, making it difficult to obtain accurate measurements. Free space testing allows for direct observation of the eyes in a natural environment and is easier for children to understand the directions.
