In this work, the electrocatalytic oxidation of morphine (MO) at an optically transparent indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode modified by an electrodeposited Prussian blue (PB) thin film is first demonstrated, and the amperometric detection of MO was then investigated. Accurate assessment of the severity of soft tissue damage particularly skeletal muscle associated with fractures in trauma patients is important in determining the plan of management and prognosis. We used Indium-111 labelled anti-myosin to determine the extent of skeletal muscle injury in five patients involved in traumatic accidents. We found abnormal uptake in all 20 sites of muscle injury in four patients, 13 at the sites of fractures and seven away from fracture sites. A case of focal decreased skeletal uptake with In-111 labeled white blood cells representing Paget's disease is reported. Although uncommon, other causes for skeletal photon deficient areas using In-111 white blood cells have been described. To the authors' knowledge, this finding representing Paget's disease has not been previously described.

Glass plates coated with transparent thin film conductors of indium-tin oxide (ITO), 100 nm thick and 10 microns wide, have been successfully used to record spike potentials from neuronal monolayer cultures. The material is non-toxic to mammalian spinal neurons and is stable under warm culture medium. Laser-deinsulated recording craters that expose 100 mu m2 of ITO yield impedances of 8-10 M omega at 1 kHz with noise levels of 40 muV. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of scintigraphy by using 111In-oxine labeled platelets for the detection of either intracardiac or intravascular thrombi. Fourteen cases of thrombi diagnosed or suspected on the basis of either angiography or two-dimensional echography were examined. They included four cases of left ventricular thrombi, three of left atrial thrombi, four of vascular thrombi and three of inflammatory disease. Labelling platelets with 111 Indium-oxine has advantages over the conventional 51 Chromium method: labelling is more efficient and the radiations emitted almost exclusively consist of gamma-rays. Owing to these advantages, autologous platelets can be used for kinetic studies in patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, even when thrombocytopenia is severe. 111 Indium labelling also provides accurate information on the sites of platelet destruction, which may help to predict the patient's response to splenectomy.
