The rate of recurrence for diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is 50% at 2 years Armstrong DG, 2017. International recommendations call for regular monitoring to prevent DFU recurrence. We aim to investigate the relation between post-healing follow-up and recurrence rates. The study will begin in November 2021 and end in April 2022; final study results are scheduled for December 2022. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the benefit of the multidisciplinary follow-up of healed DFU patients at the rate of two annual consultations and its impact on foot wound recurrence.

OBJECTIVES: Few studies describe the trajectories of cognitive function for hip-fracture patients following hospital discharge and the treatment effects of interdisciplinary intervention on cognitive outcomes. The purpose of this study was to explore the 2-year postoperative trajectory for cognitive function of older hip-fracture patients and cognitive effects of an interdisciplinary intervention.
METHODS: Of 160 subjects randomly assigned to groups, 29 (35.8%) in the control group (n = 81) and 30 (38.0%) in the intervention group (n = 79) were cognitively impaired at admission. The intervent

Involvement of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is common in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). TMJ arthritis can lead to orofacial symptoms, orofacial dysfunction, and dentofacial deformity with negative impact on quality of life. Management involves interdisciplinary collaboration. No current recommendations exist to guide clinical management. We undertook this study to develop consensus-based interdisciplinary recommendations for management of orofacial manifestations of JIA, and to create a future research agenda related to management of TMJ arthritis in children with JIA. A common recommendation to improve the management of low back pain (LBP) is the use of interdisciplinary teams. However, many challenges remain in establishing interdisciplinary care, particularly in community-based primary care settings. This study explored patients' experiences with interdisciplinary care for LBP using an applied phenomenological research approach. Semistructured open-ended interviews were conducted with fifteen adults enrolled in a 6-month interdisciplinary LBP program within an integrated care network. The analysis included detailed descriptions of participants' experience

Despite major advancements in cardiovascular medicine, sudden cardiac death (SCD) continues to be an enormous medical and societal challenge, claiming millions of lives every year. Efforts to prevent SCD are hampered by imperfect risk prediction and inadequate solutions to specifically address arrhythmogenesis. Although resuscitation strategies have witnessed substantial evolution, there is a need to strengthen the organisation of community interventions and emergency medical systems across varied locations and health-care structures. With all the technological and medical advances of the 21st

BACKGROUND: Diabetic foot syndromes (DFS) usually have negative outcomes for patients characterised by multiple comorbidities and frailty. In Switzerland, we need a nationwide "quality of care" programme consisting of evidence-based, practical guidance for primary care providers, together with the implementation of a multidisciplinary care system for DFS.
METHODS: Elaboration of interprofessional and comprehensive Swiss practical guidance for the timely management of acute DFS. This guidance will not replace existing recommendations, but will be complementary to them. Before nationwide implem

BACKGROUND: Inherited Retinal Diseases (IRDs) are a leading cause of genetic vision loss. Ophthalmic and genetic care for patients with IRDs requires extensive interdisciplinary coordination. In this retrospective cohort study, we compared timeliness and access to genetics services between a referral-based clinic model and an interdisciplinary clinic model.
METHODS: 374 patients were evaluated for IRDs between January 2021 and February 2025. 239 (64%) were seen in a retina clinic with the option for referral to genetics services; 135 (35%) were seen in an interdisciplinary clinic offering sam

Ethical debate about artificial intelligence (AI) for health is fundamental to the good governance and long-term success of this group of technologies in healthcare and public health. Building on foundational contributions on this topic from the field of bioethics, we propose that interdisciplinary work on AI ethics should deepen the already strong engagements that exist with Science and Technology Studies (STS) to uphold core commitments of global population health. STS is an interdisciplinary field that specifically explores the meaning, development and governance of science and technology a

Effective communication among healthcare disciplines, professions, and patients is crucial for delivering coordinated inpatient care and achieving improved patient outcomes. The practice of daily rounds has a long history, evolving over time in structure and in the individuals involved. Rounds increasingly include diverse healthcare professionals and, in some cases, patients and families. However, inconsistent terminology-such as interprofessional, interdisciplinary, multiprofessional, and multidisciplinary-complicates research and implementation of team rounding practices. Existing reviews ha

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is an umbrella term that encompasses many musculoskeletal problems that include the masticatory muscles, the temporomandibular joint, and other associated structures. TMD can be divided into two large groups: those that affect the musculature and those that affect the joint. The treatment of TMD requires the combined skills of physiotherapists and dentists, as well as sometimes psychologists and other medical specialists. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the interdisciplinary approach using physiotherapy and dental techniques on pain in patients

Radical cystectomy is the gold standard for the treatment of muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Advanced age is only a relative criterion when selecting patients eligible for radical cystectomy, and to reduce post-operative complications, the management of an elderly patient requires a multidisciplinary approach. The role of the geriatrician is therefore essential, in collaboration with the urologist, to ensure appropriate follow-up. A series of preoperative screening tests should be used to identify frailer patients who are at high risk of developing complications, so that appropriate follow-up

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), formerly known as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, includes all forms of chronic arthritis with unknown etiology that occurs before the age of sixteen. Clinical practice guidelines for JIA management have been evolving for the past 10 years. JIA affects approximately 1 per 1000 children in the U.S. causing short and long-term disability. Polyarticular JIA represents 30% to 40% of JIA and affects five or more joints within 6 months of onset, including the smaller joints, such as the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). TMJ involvement in JIA is between 17% and 87% a

BACKGROUND: Collaborative learning is a group learning approach in which positive social interdependence within a group is key to better learning performance and future attitudes toward team practice. Recent attempts to replace a face-to-face environment with an online one have been developed using information communication technology. However, this raises the concern that online collaborative learning (OCL) may reduce positive social interdependence. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the degree of social interdependence in OCL with face-to-face environments and clarify aspects that affec

Amyloidosis is a rare, typically systemic disease that may cause progressive heart failure when cardiac involvement occurs. The two most common subtypes leading to cardiomyopathy - AL and ATTR amyloidosis - differ substantially in terms of diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Retrospective studies have shown that musculoskeletal manifestations such as carpal tunnel syndrome, stenosing tenosynovitis, Dupuytren's contracture, or tendon ruptures often occur years before the diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis and may serve as early clinical markers. A risk-adapted, targeted histopathological work-up

Chronic low back pain requires interdisciplinary and biopsychosocial treatment. Apart from the medical, psychological, and physiotherapeutic aspects of therapy, exercise therapy is an important component. Together with"work hardening," it represents the elements for reconditioning. The isolated effect is scientifically difficult to specify with the available data, but in most analytical studies, exercise therapy is an important component in an interdisciplinary setting. A nonspecific, diversified training program is superior to exercise solely of the trunk muscles. The primary tasks are to rec
