Twenty-nine consecutive patients with vitreous incarceration in the wound after cataract surgery and cystoid macular edema (Irvine-Gass syndrome) were treated with Nd:YAG laser anterior vitreolysis. Fluorescein angiography was safely performed in 100 consecutive cases of cataract extraction during the first postoperative week. Seventy-five percent of the 100 eyes had good quality fluorescein angiograms. Four eyes demonstrated cystoid macular edema. Therefore, the incidence of cystoid macular edema in the first week after cataract surgery was low when compared to the reported incidence (40%) four to six weeks postoperatively.

Acute toxic serous macular detachment after cataract surgery is very rare, and has been described previously with the use of high concentrations of intra-cameral cefuroxime. We present a patient with recurrent mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) who was treated with zanubrutinib, a Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor. He subsequently developed bilateral cystoid macular edema (CME) in both eyes. This is the first report of CME in a patient with MCL who was treated with zanubrutinib. CME was refractory to topical corticosteroid therapy, but sub-Tenon's steroid injections and holding off zanubrutinib managed to decrease the CME.
