This study characterizes the naturally occurring feline alloantibodies against A and B blood type. All examined type-A and type-B cats had naturally occurring antibodies against erythrocytes of the opposite blood type. In order to determine the class of immunoglobulins, sera from cats were analyzed using incubation with 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME), immunoprecipitation, and gel filtration. The antihypotensive drug heptaminol was determined using a spectrofluorimetric method and ortho-phthaladehyde as a fluorescence probe. Production of an unusual collagenous protein was observed in culture of dermal fibroblasts from four patients with Marfan syndrome. The apparent molecular weight of the protein was about 185 kDa after reduction with 2-mercaptoethanol and 175 kDa after limited pepsin treatment. Aldosterone exerts some of its effects not by binding to mineralocorticoid receptors, but rather by acting via G protein-coupled estrogen receptors (GPER). Nebulisation of a 10% solution of Mesna (Mistabron) in 10 postoperatively ventilated patients without preexisting pulmonary disease caused a significant increase in inspiratory resistance. This increase is effectively blocked by addition of a bronchodilator (i.e. Salbutamol) to the aerosol. No significant changes in airway resistance were observed in the 10 patients receiving salbutamol alone or isotonic saline.
