BACKGROUND: Cranioplasty aims to reconstruct skull defects from fractures, decompressive craniectomies, tumors, and congenital anomalies in a cosmetically acceptable manner. We present a technique in methyl methacrylate cranioplasty that gives excellent cosmetic results by maintaining patient's calvarial curvature.
METHOD: Cranioplasty material is placed into a plastic bag and packed inside the defect. Wire mesh cut larger than the defect is held in position to take the exact skull curvature. Once solid, the implant is fixed in position using titanium plates and mini-screws.

A prospective, randomized, double-masked clinical trial of 182 patients compared the frequency of visual disturbances associated with two small incision intraocular lenses (IOLs): the Alcon MZ20BD 5 mm x 6 mm oval-optic poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) IOL and the STAAR AQ1016 round-optic silicone IOL. We report the preparation of dense and porous amphiphilic conetwork (APCN) membranes through the covalent interconnection of poly(vinylidene fluoride)-graft-poly[(2-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PVDF-g-PDMAEMA) copolymers with telechelic poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) or α,α-dichloro-p-xylene (XDC). Artecoll is an injectable implant for long-lasting correction of wrinkles and other skin defects. Artecoll consists of fine polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres suspended 1:3 in a 3.5% collagen solution. Between 1984-1990 80 secondary implantations of an anterior chamber lens in aphakic eyes have been completed. The average follow-up period was 3.1 years, some of the patients checked on during the last 6 years. The most relevant complications to mention being retinal detachment (2), as well as cystoid macular edema (1). The vascular and microvascular anatomy of the rat uterus during the oestrous cycle was studied using the corrosion vascular casting/scanning electron microscopy method.
