A collection of 24 rifampin-resistant clinical isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis with characterized RNA polymerase beta-subunit (rpoB) gene mutations was tested against the antimycobacterial agents rifampin, rifapentine, and KRM-1648 to correlate levels of resistance with specific rpoB genotypes. The results indicate that KRM-1648 is more active in vitro than rifampin and rifapentine, and its ability to overcome rifampin resistance in strains with four different genetic alterations may prove to be useful in understanding structure-function relationships.

Since 1906 severe infections due to Neisseria meningitidis have been reported in Switzerland. Rochalimaea quintana, the etiological agent of trench fever, was tested by an agar dilution method for its susceptibility to the following 14 antibiotics: penicillin G, methicillin, ampicillin, cephalothin, vancomycin, doxycycline, tetracycline, erythromycin, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, kanamycin, rifampin, colistin, and amphotericin B. The MIC of each of these antibiotics was determined. The results showed that R. quintana is susceptible in vitro to these antibiotics, with the exception of vancomycin, kanamycin, streptomycin, colistin, and amphotericin B.

Candidozyma auris is an emerging health threat, especially in healthcare settings due to its resistance to several classes of antifungals leading to high mortality. In Viet Nam, the burden of this fungal pathogen is unknown because of little available data. In this report, six cases with C. auris isolation between 2023 and 2024 at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, a tertiary referral hospital in northern Viet Nam, are described. Our findings highlight the first report of C. auris in the north of Viet Nam and underscore the importance of prevalence surveys in the future.
