The nasolabial flap for reconstruction of the alae nasi.

Cicatrizing basal-cell carcinomas, especially in the area of the alae nasi, require radical therapeutic treatment. Surgical removal, therefore, often results in penetrating defects. The nasolabial flap is recommended in such cases as a relatively simple operative method of reconstructing the lateral part of the nose. This technique offers favorable results in a curative and esthetic respect.

Lemmo's flap for nasal dorsum reconstruction.

PURPOSE: Reconstruction of nasal defects is an antique challenge for surgeons. The first reported technique is dated 600 B.C. Since then a number of reconstructive options have been proposed in the literature. Some principles, first stated by Buget and Menick must be always taken into account when planning such reconstructions. In detail, every reconstruction should respect the subunit principle and the scars should always be well hidden in the passage between adjacent subunits. The flap proposed in the present paper adheres to the cited principles and leads to optimal nasal dorsum reconstruct

Trilobed flap reconstruction for distal nasal skin defects.

BACKGROUND: The bilobed flap is reliable for reconstruction of Mohs defects on the lower third of the nose. It uses skin from the proximal nose to reconstruct defects of the nasal tip and ala. The goal is to avoid alar rim displacement and asymmetry. The trilobed flap's design and execution leverage the strengths of the bilobed flap to allow application to a broader range of surgical nasal defect sizes and locations, particularly distal defects. OBJECTIVE: To present our surgical execution and application of the trilobed flap for reconstruction of distal nasal Mohs surgery defects. METHODS A

Treatment of congenital melanocytic naevi of nose using multiple flaps in single stage in a paediatric patient and literature review.

A girl in her middle childhood presented to the outpatient department (OPD) with a congenital melanocytic naevi (CMN) of the right nasal alar lobule. Her parents had aesthetic concerns and expressed their desire to get the lesion removed. The full-thickness excision of CMN was performed with the reconstruction of the defect using the nasolabial and dorsal nasal advancement flap with conchal cartilage to shape the contour of the ala.

[Extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma, nasal type involving the larynx and digestive tract: a case report and literature review].

Extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma, nasal type(ENKTL) is a highly aggressive malignant tumor derived from NK cells. This article reports a case of ENKTL invading the larynx and digestive tract. The clinical clinical manifestations include hoarseness and intranasal masses.

Two cases of neurilemmoma in the nasal vestibule: A case report and literature review.

RATIONALE: Neurilemmoma is a benign tumor derived from the Schwann cells of the nerve sheath. The highest incidence of neurilemmoma occurs in the head and neck region; however, the nose and paranasal sinuses are rarely involved. Less than 4% of these tumors involve the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. To date, only six cases of nasal vestibule neurilemmoma have been reported. PATIENT CONCERNS: Two patients (a 32-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman) visited our clinic with complaint of a lump in the left nasal vestibule. DIAGNOSIS: Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical sta

[Application of nasolabial fold wrapped perforator flap in one-stage repairof nasal alar full-thickness defects after tumor resection].

Objective:To explore the application of nasolabial fold wrapped perforator flap in one-stage repair of nasal alar full-thickness defects after external nasal tumor resection.Method:Fifteen csaes of alar full-thickness defects after external nasal tumor resection were repaired with the nasolabial fold wrapped perforator flaps in a one-stage procedure. We detected the blood vessel distribution and exit of the blood vessel with Doppler Ultrasonography before these surgeries, and designed the nasolabial fold wrapped perforator flap according to the area and size of nasal alar defects. The flap with

Nasal reconstruction with a forehead flap.

The tint of forehead skin so exactly matches that of the face and nose that a forehead flap must be the first choice for reconstruction of a nasal defect. The forehead flap makes by far the best nose. With some plastic surgery juggling, the forehead defect can be camouflaged effectively. This article describes the author's technique in two-stage and three-stage forehead flap procedures.

Nasal obstruction in children.

Acute nasopharyngitis and adenoidal hypertrophy, common causes of nasal obstruction in children, are reviewed. The less common, but equally important, congenital and neoplastic lesions that result in blocked nasal airways in children are discussed in detail.

[Endonasal antrostomy with endoscopical control for chronic maxillary sinusitis (author's transl)].

A transnasal approach to the maxillary sinus as a standard operation in chronic maxillary sinusitis is described. A mucosal flap in the lower nasal meatus is electrically circumcised, and a window of appropriate size is formed by osteotomy. The removal of pedicled polyps and cysts from the cavity is controlled by endoscopy, while most parts of the thickened mucosa remain in place and may recover and also line the uncovered areas. If necessary, an opening in the facial wall of 5 mm diameter is established for endoscopical control or manipulations. The preliminary results of 56 endonasal sinutom

ENT assessment in the integrated management of candidate for (maxillary) sinus lift.

As stated at the 1996 Consensus Conference at Babson College, a (maxillary) sinus lift is a "safe and predictable" procedure for increasing alveolar bone height in the postero-superior alveolar regions in order to allow oral rehabilitation and restore masticatory function by means of the insertion of a dental implant even in the case of an atrophic maxilla. However, the procedure has a well-known impact on the delicate homeostasis of the maxillary sinus: the concomitant presence of systemic, naso-sinusal or maxillary sinus disease may favour the development of post-operative complications (par

[Diagnostics of neoplasms of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses].

The objective of the present work was to address earlier diagnostics of benign and malignant tumours in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses with a view to its improvemen. The immunohistochemical study and the analysis of its results made possible not only differential diagnostics of the tumorigenic processes in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses but also the estimation of the qualitative potential of each neoplasm. The immunohistochemical study demonstrated that the development of cancer of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses was associated with a substantial increase in the prolifer
