Objective The objective of this report is to compare computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) myelography with radioisotope cisternography (RC) for detection of spinal cerebrospinal (CSF) leaks. We report a 66 years old woman with a diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism. Localization to mediastinum was obtained with parathyroid scintigraphy using 99mtc-methoxy-isobutyl-isonitrite (Tc99-MIBI). The patient was successfully operated upon by means of a videothora-coscopic approach. A technique is described for concomitant study of both arterial and venous penile blood flow during tumescence. Dual-isotope acquisition is started after labeling red cells in vivo with 99mTc. Xenon-133 in saline is then injected into the corpus cavernosum followed with vasoactive drugs to induce an erection. The resulting xenon and technetium time-activity curves are inputs for a one-compartment model. 99mTc-pyrophosphate musculoskeletal imaging and 99mTc-red blood cell gated blood pool imaging were performed on 10 patients with documented polymyositis/dermatomyositis. Abnormal 99mTc-pyrophosphate uptake by peripheral muscles was found in 8 patients (6 mild, 2 marked). Cardiac uptake occurred in 5 patients and was 3+ in 2 with cardiovascular symptoms. Thermography, radioactive scanning and clinical assessment of the knee joints of a series of patients with haemophilia or Christmas disease have been performed. A positive correlation was found between the abnormalities of the thermograms, radioactive scans and the clinical signs in acute haemarthrosis, but not in chronic haemophilic joint disease nor in patients without clinical joint disease.
