A Co(II)-Organic Coordination Polymer and Its Hydroxyl Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube Composite Incorporating 2-Iodo-4-sulfobenzoate Exhibiting Dual Electrochemical Sensing Performance for NO2- and Fe3.

The novel Co(II) coordination polymer incorporating 2-iodo-4-sulfobenzoic acid (H2isba) and a pliable 1,4-bis(benzimidazole-1-methyl) benzene (bdbmb) ligand, {[Co(bdbmb)(H2O)4]·isba·2H2O·2DMA}n (Co(II)-CP), was synthesized. In addition, the composite of Co(II)-CP with the short hydroxyl multiwalled carbon nanotubes (Co(II)-CP@HCNTs) was prepared via an in situ preparation strategy. Amperometric current response reveals that the glass carbon electrodes (GCEs) of Co(II)-CP and Co(II)-CP@HCNTs exhibit highly sensitive electrochemical sensing toward NO2- and Fe3+ in the corresponding electrolytes.

Gadolinium-based metal-organic framework with restriction of aggregation-caused quenching effect synergized high-activity pt-single-atom catalyst for multiplex self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence sensing detection of kanamycin.

Trace kanamycin (KAN) residues in animal-derived foods pose a significant threat to public health. A multiplex self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor was constructed based on gadolinium-based metal-organic framework (Gd-MOF) with restricted aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect, synergistically integrated with actively catalytic platinum‑nitrogen‑carbon single-atom catalyst (Pt-N-C SAC), enabling specific detection of KAN. Gd-MOF was synthesized via the eight-coordinate assembly between Gd3+ and 9,10-di(p-carboxyphenyl)anthracene (DPA). The rigid framework of Gd-MOF inhibited

Two Co-Based Metal-Organic Framework Isomers with Similar Metal-Carboxylate Sheets: Turn-On Ratiometric Luminescence Sensing Activities toward Biomarker N-Acetylneuraminic Acid and Discrimination of Ga3+ and In3.

Two supramolecular Co-MOF isomers, namely, {[Co(L)0.5(m-bimb)]·3H2O}n (LCU-115) and {[Co(L)0.5(p-bimb)]·3H2O}n (LCU-116), were synthesized from an amide-containing carboxylic acid N,N″-(3,5-dicarboxylphenyl)benzene-1,4-dicarboxamide (H4L) and two flexible positional isostructural N-containing ligands m-bimb and p-bimb (m-bimb = 1,3-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene; p-bimb = 1,4-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene). The carboxylate ligands connect Co(II) centers to form 2D metal-carboxylate sheets, which are extended further by m-bimb and p-bimb to form a 2D bilayer with parallel stacking

Engineering a smart multifunctional UiO-66(Zr)-based metal-organic framework for simultaneous nutrient monitoring and water remediation via spectrophotometric sensing, adsorption, Box-Behnken design, machine learning, and DFT analysis.

The development of multifunctional materials for phosphate detection and removal is crucial for combatting eutrophication and enhancing water quality. We report the preparation of a novel sulfisoxazole-functionalized zirconium-based metal-organic framework (SFX-UiO-66) through glutaraldehyde-assisted modification of NH2-UiO-66(Zr). This framework features various active sites for effective phosphate recognition and adsorption. Characterization confirmed successful functionalization, high crystallinity, and structural stability pre- and post-phosphate uptake. The sensor enabled rapid phosphate

Solvothermal and Ultrasonic Preparation of Two Unique Cluster-Based Lu and Y Coordination Materials: Metal-Organic Framework-Based Ratiometric Fluorescent Biosensor for an Ornidazole and Ronidazole and Sensing Platform for a Biomarker of Amoeba Liver Abscess.

Through powerful solvothermal and facile ultrasonic synthetic strategies, two unique cluster-based lanthanide Lu and Y nanoporous metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have been successfully prepared, namely, {[Lu2(L)2]·2DMF·H2O}n (Lu-MOF) and [Y(L)(DMF)0.75]n (Y-MOF) (H3L = terphenyl-3,4'',5-tricarboxylic acid). In addition, both the morphologies and nanosizes of Lu-MOF and Y-MOF materials also have been deliberately tuned by adjustable ultrasonic conditions including irradiation time (40, 60, and 80 min) and power (70 w, 100 w). Currently, it is noted that the abuse of antibiotics such as ornidazo

Cranial nerves in the Australian lungfish, Neoceratodus forsteri, and in fossil relatives (Osteichthyes: Dipnoi).

Three systems, two sensory and one protective, are present in the skin of the living Australian lungfish, Neoceratodus forsteri, and in fossil lungfish, and the arrangement and innervation of the sense organs is peculiar to lungfish. Peripheral branches of nerves that innervate the sense organs are slender and unprotected, and form before any skeletal structures appear. When the olfactory capsule develops, it traps some of the anterior branches of cranial nerve V, which emerged from the chondrocranium from the lateral sphenotic foramen. Cranial nerve I innervates the olfactory organ enclosed w…

Biomimetic strategies and technologies for artificial tactile sensory systems.

The sense of touch events, achieved by artificial tactile sensory systems (ATSSs), is a milestone in the progress of human-machine interactions. However, it has been a challenge for ATSSs to serve functions comparable with the human tactile perception system (HTPS). The biomimetic strategies and technologies inspired by HTPS are considered an optimal solution to this challenge. Recent studies have reported bioinspired strategies for improving specific aspects of ATSS performance, such as feature collection, signal conversion, and information computation. Here, we present a systematic interpret

Vomeronasal organs and nerves of Jacobson in the human fetus.

The vomeronasal organs and nerves of Jacobson were found on both sides of the nasal septum in a 28-week human fetus. The vomeronasal organ in the human is a tubular structure with an opening into the nasal cavity anteriorly and closed posterior end. The vomeronasal nerve is distributed equally to the medial and lateral aspects of the organ, courses along the nasal septum and goes through the cartilaginous cribriform plate with the olfactory nerve. The cellular configuration of the vomeronasal organ is similar to the olfactory neuroepithelium. No areas of receptor-free epithelium were found in

Impact of Emerging Deep Learning-Based MR Image Reconstruction Algorithms on Abdominal MRI Radiomic Features.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate, on one MRI vendor's platform, the impact of deep learning (DL)-based reconstruction techniques on MRI radiomic features compared to conventional image reconstruction techniques. METHODS: Under IRB approval and informed consent, we prospectively collected undersampled coronal T2-weighted MR images of the abdomen (1.5 T; Philips Healthcare) from 17 pediatric and adult subjects and reconstructed them using a conventional image reconstruction technique (compressed sensitivity encoding [C-SENSE]) and two DL-based reconstruction techniques (SmartSpeed [Philip

The specification of sensory neuron identity in Drosophila.

Different types of sense organs are present on the larva of Drosophila. Several genes that specify the type of sense organ that will form at a particular position have been recently identified. Here we review the functional and molecular analyses of these genes, and summarize the evidence which supports a role in the choice of which type of organ will be formed. Most or all of these genes are required for the appropriate specification of adult as well as larval sense organs, suggesting that the larval and adult systems share many gene requirements. Interestingly, the specifying genes identifie…

Distribution and innervation of lateral line organs in the axolotl.

The lateral line system in axolotls consists of three types of receptors and the cranial nerves that innervate them. Superficial neuromasts, which are mechanoreceptors, are distributed in lines on both the head and trunk. Eight cephalic and three trunk lines can be distinguished on the basis of their innervation and differences in the orientation of the major axes of their neuromasts. A combination of histological techniques reveals that five separate pairs of cranial nerves innervate the neuromasts: anterodorsal lateral line nerves innervate cephalic supraorbital and infraorbital lines; anter

A multidimensional coding architecture of the vagal interoceptive system.

Interoception, the ability to timely and precisely sense changes inside the body, is critical for survival1-4. Vagal sensory neurons (VSNs) form an important body-to-brain connection, navigating visceral organs along the rostral-caudal axis of the body and crossing the surface-lumen axis of organs into appropriate tissue layers5,6. The brain can discriminate numerous body signals through VSNs, but the underlying coding strategy remains poorly understood. Here we show that VSNs code visceral organ, tissue layer and stimulus modality-three key features of an interoceptive signal-in different dim

Role of the proneural gene, atonal, in formation of Drosophila chordotonal organs and photoreceptors.

The Drosophila gene atonal encodes a basic helix-loop-helix protein similar to those encoded by the proneural genes of the achaete-scute complex (AS-C). The AS-C are required in the Drosophila PNS for the selection of neural precursors of external sense organs. We have isolated mutants of atonal, which reveal that this gene encodes the proneural gene for chordotonal organs and photoreceptors. In atonal mutants, all observable adult chordotonal organs, and almost all embryonic chordotonal organs fail to form; all adult photoreceptors are missing. For both types of sense organ, this defect is al…

Taste sensilla of flies: function, central neuronal projections, and development.

Taste sensilla of flies are composed of only a few cells, all of which have different functions. Depending on the species and on the sensillum type, there are from 2-5 neurons, each of which has its own stimulus specificity, and each of which makes a different contribution to the fly's behavior. In addition, taste sensilla include several nonneuronal cells that are important both for the development of the sensillum and for its functioning. The component cells of a sensillum derive from a single epidermal precursor according to a stereotyped sequence of mitoses. This review focuses on the diff
