A seldom-recognized accompaniment of temporal lobe seizures is tachycardia. We have reviewed the clinical outcome in 64 patients having combined structural and functional lower urinary tract studies (video urodynamics). The results represent two years' experience of a unit encouraging referral only of those complex patients thought to need the combined study, rather than simple urodynamic measurements. In 22 premature children (12 normal prematures and 10 with brain pathology) echodensity was measured as average grey scale values. For performing the measurements, echoencephalograms were recorded on videotape and analysed by an IBM-AT computer and a high resolution framegrabber. An evident difference of echodensity was measured between normal parenchyma, skull, fresh cerebral haemorrhages and cerebral oedema.

The physical activity of referees (n = 4) and linesmen (n = 6) was analyzed from videotapes of four varsity hockey games to determine the frequency, average duration, and total time spent in each of six activity categories. Digital subtraction macrodacryocystography (DSMD) has proved to be the best imaging method for diagnosing situations of stenosis of the lacrimal system. The examination is performed with a computer-controlled X-ray unit with a C-arc coupled to an image intensifier TV system with a fluoroscopic control. All the findings were recorded on videotape thus allowing good dynamic flow documentation and contributing to improved scientific analysis.

Upon falling onto the water surface, most terrestrial arthropods helplessly struggle and are quickly eaten by aquatic predators. Exceptions to this outcome mostly occur among riparian taxa that escape by walking or swimming at the water surface. Human empathy can extend to strangers and even other species, but it is unknown whether non-humans are similarly broad in their empathic responses. The authors examined the effect of messages and pauses, presented on video lottery terminal screens, on erroneous beliefs and persistence to play. At posttest, the strength of erroneous beliefs was lower for participants who received messages conveying information about randomness in gambling as compared to those who received pauses. Pauses also diminished the strength of erroneous beliefs, and there was no difference between the effects of pauses and messages on the number of games played.
