This article deals with a typical case of both the conditions vitiligo and osseous choristoma of the intraoral soft tissue. Because of the close association between vitiligo and other diseases, it is very important to have each patient thoroughly examined with regard to thyroid diseases, pernicious anemia, diabetes mellitus, and autoimmune phenomena. We have detected a very rare tumescence of mature bony tissue, such as described in literature in only 25 cases, so far.

We report the fourth case of coexisting dermatitis herpetiformis and vitiligo. This patient's HLA haplotype is HLA-B8 DR3, which is characteristic of dermatitis herpetiformis. The autoimmune features of both disorders suggest that their coexistence is not coincidental.

INTRODUCTION: Vitiligo is one of the most common hypomelanoses. Current treatments include ultraviolet, topical corticosteroids, calcineurin inhibitors. Orally administered vitamins, acting as anti-oxidants and in combination with ultraviolet light have also demonstrated skin re-pigmentation. In our pilot study of seven patients, we injected skin affected with vitiligo intra-dermally with a complex of vitamins and minerals and assessed the outcome.

Vitiligo is a disorder characterized by the development of depigmented macules and patches secondary to melanocyte destruction. Several treatment options are available, including medical, light-based, and surgical therapies, that are often used in combination to achieve maximal repigmentation. Vitiligo surgery is an effective yet underperformed treatment, mainly because of lack of awareness and availability. The purpose of this article is to review one method of vitiligo surgery, the melanocyte-keratinocyte transplantation procedure, and discuss its utility in treating vitiligo.

Childhood vitiligo differs from the adults by showing a higher incidence in females, segmental vitiligo being more common and less frequent association with other systemic autoimmune and endocrine disorders. We describe a rare account of a patient who developed segmental vitiligo within several months of an episode of viral encephalitis. This case provides further support to the neuronal hypothesis in the etiology of segmental vitiligo. A literature review of the neuronal theory and pathogenesis of vitiligo is further discussed.
