How Body-Centering Improves the Effects of Core Stability Training on the Motor Skills in Adolescent Female Volleyball Players.

Background: During growth, the reduction in motor control makes core stability training essential, especially in sports involving dynamic jumps. Given the limited training time of adolescent athletes, finding strategies to maximize the effects of core stability training is crucial. This study analyzed the effects of incorporating body-centering techniques (a method that involves conscious modulation of intra-abdominal pressure to enhance postural stability during motor gestures) into a core stability training protocol on balance, trunk control, and lower limb explosive strength in adolescent v

Rare brachial artery injury caused by blunt trauma; a case of the brachial artery laceration in an amateur volleyball player.

Low-energy blunt brachial artery injury is very rare and can be easily missed. Moreover, brachial artery injury in an amateur volleyball player is extremely rare. A 33-year-old woman was referred to our emergency department with swelling on her left upper arm after playing volleyball. Paresis or paralysis was not observed. The pulse of the left brachial artery was palpable, but relatively weak. An ultrasound examination and a computed tomography, both, revealed a pseudoaneurysm on the posterior wall of the left brachial artery in the antecubital fossa. A massive hematoma was also observed bene

Association of the scapulothoracic kinematics and the musculotendinous architecture of supraspinatus during scaption in male college volleyball players with scapular dyskinesis.

Scapular dyskinesis (SD) is prevalent among overhead athletes and associated with dysfunctions of the rotator cuff. Although the musculotendinous architecture of the supraspinatus changes with arm elevation, the influence of scapular kinematics remains unclear. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the dynamic changes in the supraspinatus's musculotendinous architecture and its association with scapular kinematics during scaption in participants with SD. Twenty-one asymptomatic male college volleyball players with type I SD were recruited. Participants were asked to perform scaption from 0° to

Relationship between the strength of the hip and knee stabilizer muscles and the Y balance test performance in adolescent volleyball athletes.

BACKGROUND: Due to the large number of jumping and landing movements, volleyball exerts a high demand on lower limbs, causing a high incidence of injuries. On average, 52% of volleyball injuries occur in lower limbs. Y Balance-test (YBT) is widely used to predict lower limb injury in athletes who jump, so it is important to identify whether the hip and knee stabilizer muscle strength is related to the performance of this test, since muscle strength is important for injury prevention, given the possibility of modifying these factors. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to correlate the st

Conservative management of isolated medial subtalar joint dislocations in volleyball players: a report of three cases and literature review.

Isolated subtalar dislocations (SDs) are rare injuries, representing only 1% of all foot traumas. In the current literature, only a few reports have described this acute injury as a consequence of low-middle-energy trauma during sports activities and none in professional or recreational volleyball players. Further, to the best of our knowledge, no validated standard rehabilitation programs have been described for SDs as most of them are usually treated like an ankle sprain. This report describes 3 cases of isolated, closed medial SD, which occurred during non-professional volleyball activities

Selective recovery effects of short-term beetroot juice supplementation after exercise-induced muscle damage in trained female volleyball players.

BACKGROUND: Beetroot juice (BRJ) has been proposed as a nutritional aid for recovery from exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD), but evidence in female team-sport athletes is limited. It also remains unclear whether any benefit extends across functional, pain-related, swelling, and strength outcomes. METHODS: Seventeen female university volleyball players entered a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial. Four did not complete the second period, so outcomes were analyzed with linear mixed models. After baseline testing, participants performed 200 loaded vertical jumps and
