Bowenoid transformation of seborrhoeic verrucae (keratoses).

Seborrhoeic verrucae (keratoses) are considered to be benign lesions. Occasional bowenoid transformation of these benign growths has not been widely recognized. [Treatment of acne and seborrhea using antiandrogens].

57 women suffering from seborrhea and acne were treated with low doses of estrogens and antiandrogens. A cyclic regimen comprising 21 tablets of 0.05 mg ethinylestradiol and 2 mg cyproterone acetate was used. Results were very favourable: within 6 months, 51 patients were healed or significantly improved. There were only minor side effects, and none of the women conceived. It is concluded that this combination not only provides very effective therapy but might also be the contraceptive of choice for women with skin problems.

Internet and Social Media Use Among Patients with Hair and Scalp Disorders: A Behavioral Analysis.

INTRODUCTION: TikTok, a social media platform, is a tool for disseminating dermatological public health education. On TikTok, like other social media platforms, both board-certified dermatologists and non-medical providers ("influencers") provide dermatological advice, but how the quality of the advice compares between the two creator groups is unclear. OBJECTIVES: This study sought to assess similarities and differences in the language used within content, user receptibility, and engagement and the utility of online education in understanding hair and scalp disorders. METHODS: A cross-secti

Visceral leishmaniosis in dogs from western Iran.

Leishmania infantum is a sand fly-borne parasite, causing visceral and mucocutaneous leishmaniosis. Dogs are the main reservoir hosts and play a crucial role in the epidemiology of the infection. This study reports for the first time the presence of L. infantum in sick dogs from a western province of Iran, previously considered not endemic for this infection. From April 2024 to June 2025, six mongrel dogs with poor body condition and skin lesions were presented to veterinary clinics in Hamedan, Iran. Impression smears and scrapes of the suspected lesions were examined microscopically for Leish

Dermatological diseases presented before COVID-19: Are patients with psoriasis and superficial fungal infections more vulnerable to the COVID-19?

Recent studies have focused on the comorbid conditions of the COVID-19. According to the current studies, numerous diseases including lung disease, cardiovascular disease and immunosuppression appear to be at higher risk for severe forms of the COVID-19. To date, there are no data in the literature on the comorbid dermatologic diseases and COVID-19. We tried to analyze the previous dermatological comorbidity of 93 patients with COVID-19 (51 males, 42 females) who presented to the dermatology outpatient clinics for the last 3 years. The most common dermatologic diseases in patients with COVID-1

Parkinson's Disease and Its Dermatological Associations: Is Your Skin Whispering You a Diagnosis?

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized clinically by the triad of resting tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia. Although PD is primarily known for motor disturbance, 98.6% of patients experience one or more non-motor symptoms at all stages of the disease. Dermatological disorders are discussed as common non-motor associations of PD since the 20th century. Many studies have shown that patients of PD are predisposed to skin disorders. This article is a traditional review done to analyze the association between PD and its dermatological manifestations. We did a litera

The State of Ethnic Dermatology in Canada.

Approximately 30% of Canadians will be members of a visible minority by 2031. When dermatology became an independent medical discipline in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, most residents of Canada and the United States were of Northern European descent. Morphology and descriptions of dermatoses are based on patients with light skin. Skin of colour dermatology refers to a unique field in dermatology dedicated to the diagnosis and management of disorders that are more prevalent in patients with moderately to richly pigmented skin. Important differences in the presentation of common dermat

Genotype analyses of human commensal scalp fungi, Malassezia globosa, and Malassezia restricta on the scalps of patients with dandruff and healthy subjects.

Dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis are common afflictions of the human scalp caused by commensal scalp fungi belonging to the genus Malassezia. Malassezia globosa and Malassezia restricta are the predominant species found on the scalp. The intergenic spacer regions of these species' rRNA genes contain short sequence repeats (SSR): (GT)n and (CT)n in M. globosa and (CT)n and (AT)n in M. restricta. In the present study, we compared the genotypes (SSR) of M. globosa and M. restricta colonizing the scalps of patients with dandruff and healthy individuals. For M. globosa, the genotype (GT)10:(CT)8
