UNLABELLED: Monoclonal antibodies (MoAb) labeled with 90Y are being used for radioimmunotherapy. Because 90Y is a beta emitter, quantitative information from imaging is suboptimal. In-111 pentetreotide scintigraphy of 10 patients with residual or metastatic medullary thyroid carcinoma is described. Six patients had sporadic tumor and 4 had MEN IIB. Foci of increased tracer uptake were observed in 9 patients: in the thyroid bed (4 patients), the mediastinum (3 patients.), the shoulder area and left lower abdomen (1 patient), and the left upper abdomen (1 patient). As a result of a study of 173 cases of rectal cancer, applicability of bleomycin-111indium for diagnosis of tumor recurrences was shown. Assays of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) as a separate diagnostic procedure proved inadequate due to their low sensitivity (42.1%). Since the effectiveness of ultrasonography application in diagnosing rectal cancer was as high as 91%, it should be recommended for follow-up of radically operated patients.

Autologous leukocytes labeled with In-111 oxine (ILL) concentrated in the renal allografts of eight patients for whom transplant rejection, infection, or acute tubular necrosis (ATN) could be excluded.
