Myocardial bridge is often considered to be a simple anatomical variation often observed during coronary angiography. The responsibility of this condition for myocardial ischaemia is however uncommon and the physiopathological mechanisms are not well understood. The article considers characteristics of clinical manifestations of dental plexalgia, a new form of the disease related to impairment of dental plexuses. In a clinicophysiological study of 56 patients with dental plexalgia conducted at a neurostomatological department the authors used rheofaciography, thermometry and thermography of the face skin, esthesiometry, and electrodiagnosis of the oral mucosa. Knowledge of the pathophysiology of myocardial ischemia has been greatly enhanced recently by new information on coronary artery spasm. This phenomenon accounts for the mechanism underlying the attacks of resting chest pain in Prinzmetal's angina and plays a role in almost all aspects of ischemic heart disease. The diagnosis of coronary artery spasm can be made presumptively with noninvasive methods, but definitive documentation is usually obtained in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. The nitrate derivatives and the calcium antagonists provide a safe and effective approach to therapy.

We studied 42 consecutive patients with coronary artery spasm (CS) who where treated with the Ca2+ entry blocker diltiazem for a mean period of 11 months (range 2-29 months). Patient population consisted of 26 females (age X = 52.1) and 16 males (age X = 59.1). One hundred one patients with unstable angina were treated conservatively without the routine use of beta receptor blocking agents, calcium antagonist drugs, anticoagulant agents or nitrates. Twelve patients with nonexertional chest pain and nonobstructive fixed coronary disease (less than 50% luminal diameter narrowing) were given histamine to investigate the potential role (coronary artery H1 receptor agonism) of the endogenous agent in producing coronary artery spasm (CAS). This study assesses the effect of carotid sinus blockade applied with a local anesthetic on hemodynamic parameters during carotid endarterectomy (CEA) operations performed under general anesthesia. The medical records of patients who underwent CEA under general anesthesia between January 2020 and December 2022, were retrospectively reviewed.
