Blood group incompatibility is a risk factor for type 1 diabetes. Our aim was to test the hypothesis that islet cell autoantibodies, as markers for beta cell autoimmunity, are increased in cord blood from newborns with a diagnosis of blood group incompatibility. A total of 75 patients underwent sibling allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) for chronic myeloid leukaemia in first chronic phase from 1984 to 2000.
