Trichinellosis is an emerging parasitic zoonosis in North Vietnam. In this survey, hunted and farm-bred wild boars as well as synanthropic rats were sampled in two provinces of northwest Vietnam where outbreaks of trichinellosis have recently occurred. Evidence of Trichinella infection was studied by parasitological, serological and molecular methods. The results showed relatively low prevalence of Trichinella spiralis in hunted wild boars (2/62 (3.2%; 95% CI: 0.8- 4.8)) and rats (23/820 (2.8%; 95% CI: 13.7-32.3)). INTRODUCTION: The use of biomaterials to treat anal fistula has drawn great interest. More recently, a porcine dermal matrix injection has been proposed as infill biomaterial to treat fistulas.
METHODS: We propose a novel approach consisting in non-cutting seton positioning followed by flap repair associated with dermal matrix injection into the fistula tracts after several weeks.
RESULTS: We report our experience with this two-staged procedure on 11 consecutive patients with recurrent high trans-sphincteric fistulas with a minimum follow-up of 6 months.

In October 2008 nine farrow-to-finish pig farms were visited in Shuangliu County in Sichuan Province, China. One farm was empty for one month but not cleaned after depopulation. Dust samples were collected at each farm and analysed for the presence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The authors report the case of a death which occurred during wild boar hunting. The scene details revealed that the victim and the beast were aligned in the visual shooting path and the victim had been struck by overpenetrating bullet shot by his friend on the neighbouring stand. The fatal entrance wound was on the victim's left chest. The authors emphasise the importance of the exhaustive forensic investigation, including autopsy of the beast, in cases like this, in order to distinguish accident from homicide.
