Acrylic anaerobic sealants are widely used in engineering and electronic industries. They may induce allergic contact dermatitis of the first three fingers and onycholysis. We report a case of allergic contact dermatitis due to anaerobic sealants and we underline some practical problems connected with the frequency of sensitization, patch-testing and material safety data sheet availability.

BACKGROUND: Fluconazole has proven to be safe and effective for a variety of superficial and systemic fungal infections. Preliminary analysis of extensive Phase III studies suggests that it is very effective for the treatment of onychomycosis. A 36-year-old female patient was treated with PUVA for dyshidrotic eczema that had not shown sufficient response to topical therapy over the previous months. Coconut diethanolamide (CDEA), manufactured from coconut oil, is widely used as a surface-active agent in hand gels, hand-washing liquids, shampoos and dish-washing liquids. CDEA has rarely caused allergic contact dermatitis. The present questionnaire survey of side effects of biomaterials in prosthodontics had a response rate of 64%. There were occupational health problems associated with a variety of dental materials, especially acrylic resins, eugenol-containing materials, and elastomer impression materials.
