AIM AND BACKGROUND: The Baerveldt glaucoma implant (BGI) is a tube shunt that has proven long-term safety and efficacy in lowering intraocular pressure (IOP). However, it requires temporary ligation for 6-8 weeks before it can take effect. This study compares the efficacy and safety of the BGI modified with a reversible ventilating mattress suture (vsBGI) to allow early flow with the unmodified BGI.

The hospital admission rate for dehydration is one of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Prevention's Quality Indicators, which are considered screening tools for potential quality issues. STUDY OBJECTIVE: Determine the sensitivity and specificity of [F-18]-fluorine-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) in differentiating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from benign solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) in a region with a high endemic rate of histoplamosis.
